i'm not a huge fan of the pregnant guppy downtube aesthetic, but at least it's steel, i guess? and looks like it'll fit a water bottle.

I hope it's a huge beast with doctahawk geometry, simply so I'm not tempted to buy it.

If they make something with around 110-120mm of super progressive rear suspension and reasonable head tube, like 65 or so, my wallet will be dead. Like basically a super hardtail. Ugh I hope that's not what it is. It's be like a $6000 tractor beam.. lol

Ditto. I can feel the gravity already

They do share the building with the North Shore Billet crew.

That is what Cove needs to do. Talk with NS and make modern STD and Hustler

Holy cow....imagine an STD with today's geo...a bit lighter...alu....I still love my way too short pixie blue STD.

It would be so sick!!!!

I had the 2015 27.5 hustler, really liked it kinda wish I didn't sell it. Chaz showed me drawings of the new STD a couple years ago but I don't think it's happening anytime soon. They should just stick to making the Ti Hummers, which is on my wish list.

Plus one to this.

Give me a bike with somewhere between 120-140mm travel, and a nice simple aesthetic in steel or aluminum and a ā€œreasonableā€ price tag an Iā€™m all in. Cdn made Starling or Cotic that costs $2500 please!

Is $2500 with shock and axle the sweet spot? Basically the price of a Transition alloy frame?

I'll be really shocked if it's that cheap.

I guess it depends if they make it in Taiwan or Canada. As a comparison a UK Starling Cycles steel Murmur FS 29er [Taiwan rear triangle and UK built front triangle] is $2506 CAD without a shock. Edit - corrected price.

Yeah if it's a Taiwan frame it might be. I was envisioning something like the starling or even better the swarf contour. That'd kill me. I'm a child of the 90s and I can't resist skinny straight tubes.

I've been dream building steel FS bikes lately and ya skinny straight tubes are pretty nice. My current favourite Project12 Vertigo.
