Shore's Future not so bright

I would seriously rather listen to the entire Nickelback album catalogue than read more threads from people complaining and debating building trails on the Shore.

I'm not kidding. These threads are weak.

Smells like curmudgeon. Oh and make it the entire Rick Astley compilation. Next thread.

Shed head!

Were you at the NSMBA townhall tonight? If so I didn't hear you address the board. That was another great place to air your grievances.

You clearly have a long history on the Shore. Your knowledge and point of view would be an asset at trail days and NSMBA meetings. Hope to see you out.

Btw - erosion is not progression.

Does that include Chad Kroegers solo albums?

This trip to Kelowna was definately an undertaking - Liam and I had been planning this project for 24 hours. We worked really hard to pull out all the stops in this video. We had slo-mo goggle shots; time lapses; pedal flips; outrageous product shots; unloading and loading the bike; walking through the field with your hand in wheat. At the end of the day this trip was all about just getting out and riding with all my friends.

I wish I could call you an f'ing moron to your face.

You probably have never donated to the trails, helped work on them or have done anything to better the shore. but you have the right to crap all over it.

feel free to take up another sport since ours sucks so bad now.

Thoughtful comments, a lot of which I agree with. And yes, I help with trail maintenance on the shore and have contributed my own money and that of my employer to the same. Hopefully the right balance will eventually be found and it will be possible to support non-flow riding through NSMBA and without being labelled a grouch or worse.

If you truly want to see unmaintained historic lines protected, you have to get involved at a level beyond attending a public trail day or an annual general meeting. If you want to ride rock armouring, you might actually have to do it yourself.

Gords three circles showing land managers expectations, riders desires and builders visions was excellent last night. Weren't at the meeting to know what I'm talking about? Get involved.

I do love the support board members are giving in these threads!

Surely not many people ride Bookwus because it's not on maps, the entrance is hidden and the sign (if it's still there) is half way up a tree and swung around so you can't see it?

PSF is closed.

Plenty of greasy old woodwork on Upper Oil if an old schooler wants to fix it up.

That's part of it but not all. I love Bookwus but many do not.

But wait. Bookwus still exists? You mean this trail experience can co-exist with trails like 7th and Expresso? There can be something or a wide range of riders? Not just the elitist few?

I've said it before - if that's the trail experience you want feel free to put some love into the original Expresso line. Or are are these people too busy burning signs and writing on stunts? Or writing FU MW on trail signs?

The 'glory days' the OP speaks of worked when riders were few, brakes were cable and suspension was shit (or non-existent). If MTB is to survive on the Shore, and thrive, a new model isn't just preferable, it's essential.

I found Bookwus because it's on the Trail app and in Wade's guide. It's hardly a secret. All that's required is a little curiosity about what those unfamiliar red lines are about.

Can we have sanctioned trail days (yes that means NSMBA supported) on repairing and maintaining some old school trails (not graveling them)?

Where, by the way, does all the $$ go that is collected from sponsors? We use to do trail maintenance without them just fine. And as far as I understand none of the volunteers are being paid (thus the term volunteers). Shovels, buckets etc do not cost that much and chainsaws are becoming far less used with the anti wood construction.

In the recent past (when NSMBA got better organized to go up against the district) we didn't bow to what the DNV wanted. They want the $$ biking brings in and industry support and the council wants our votes so we had as much power as the DNV did when it came to decisions on trails. One statement I recall was "no loss of trails" yet Pink, despite some feeble battles, is considered gone (although still a good ride). Why the change? Is it from the $$ some people now receive?

Note: I'm asking questions although I'm sure I'll see many angry retorts to them. However these, and follow up questions once I get some honest answers, are just me trying to understand things.

I would totally be into this. Go over some of the gnarlier old school trails and fix obvious drainage/erosion issues but otherwise leave the trail alone.

funny the OP story is all about the progression of the sport from the old days but he wants it stopped circa 2004. I dont see alot of guys riding BMXs on skidder roads anymore.
