dubprof - well said. Hope your attempts to become more involved work out. Having been a trail leader in the past I found the whole process too political and it left a bad taste in my mouth. It's difficult to be have an opinion that differs from the majority.

Thanx guys. Yes I talked (emailed) Brian earlier and know of his Thur plan but I'll be skiing with my wife then. He said he might go out Sat as well which is when I hope to hook up with people.

Looking on the bright side - first few days are going to be clear so I should get some good views, I can get ideas of where I'd like to go skiing next time I visit, it still will be an interesting adventure having never been to Smithers before. Plus the few people I've talked with have all been very friendly and helpful - love small towns! So despite the epic snowfall everywhere else I will have a great time I'm sure. And as I spent nearly 3 weeks over the Xmas break in Nelson and skied nearly every day in deep light pow, it's been a good year.

So Smithers here I come! :)

Thanx L Hutz. Yes it's not looking good for my trip - normally I know you are a hot spot for snow but while the coast gets hammered, the Koots buried, Smithers remains clear. Sigh.

That said I'm happy to just tour - climb high, check out the area from the tops of mountains, tour along ridges and enjoy the mountains - I really love that actually. The suffering on the return down is relatively quick :)

Looking for a ski mates for this Sat in Smithers

I'm (finally) headed to Smithers with my wife and we plan to do a few easier ski days together (Hankin-Evelyn area, maybe some short tours with her on snowshoes me on skis) but I'd love to do something bigger this Saturday (we arrive Wed night, leave Monday night) if I can find someone to tour with.

I like to climb and do longer tours but can easily do laps if the snow is good. Would be great to get up high and see what the area is like for future trips to Smithers.

I messaged Brian at Storknest Inn as a buddy told me he might be able to hook me up but I'm asking here as well in case there is someone on the board who is in Smithers and doesn't mind having me tag along.

Hope to visit in the summer one year too as I hear the riding is good.

Attached is a picture. Looking at the other one it looks like it went all the way around but it didn't break as it's too symmetrical.

So my guess is first gen. Does that look correct?

Can't remove the binding without having to remount somewhere else and far away for screw holes to be strong enough - at least that's what everyone tells me, remove the binding and you have to remount.

The bindings are TLT radical ST, probably the first edition - came on used skis.

Hoping someone has had this issue before and can point me to a solution:

My brake on one of my dynafit radical bindings no longer stays in place and over time slides forward to pass the lip of the "tower" (no longer called towers but whatever they are called) that normally holds the brake down and prevents it from engaging. This does two bad things, it opens the brake during skinning which isn't great and it also allows the "tower" to rotate easier and I often find myself locking in during skinning.

Since you can't remove the brake without removing the binding itself I can't simply replace the brake.

Ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thanx in advance!

Where are the signs? Having just ridden (today) on Bridal, HS, Penny Lane, GSM, SD, SS, etc today other than yellow tape in various locations (and a bit of red tape) which I think marks boundaries there are no "No Trespassing" signs anywhere that I saw.

After a bit of research I've learned that I'm better off keeping my old plan (as I'm off contract) rather than trying to get more going onto a contract (i have a much older plan that gives me 6GB data for much less than current contracts).

In my research I did discover a few interesting things:

1. Manitoba and Sask have way way cheaper plans
2. Google's Fi project is taking off and offers a smarter way to cell plans
3. Both the above are being used by Canadians not in the provinces (found in point 1) or in the US (found in point 2) and enjoying the benefits with only minor issues. The biggest is area codes that can scare people from calling them.

Anyway - anyone here using the above or other cheaper and better cell plans? Issues, complaints, concerns or is it all good? How long have you been using said service?

It's bad enough we get poor plans because we are in Canada but even worse that Man and Sask do better than the rest of Canada (they have 2 other provides forcing prices down)
