I did it too. But, what the hell is this question supposed to mean:

Automobile tune ups and repairs are quite costly. Did you know that in Canada, service locations typically bill significantly more for labour than for actual auto parts?

Apples and oranges, you can't compare labour and parts costs. Or, do you mean that for a typical "tune up", labour makes up more of the bill than parts do? You should say that.

Also - since the advent of electronic ignition and fuel injection and computer controlled everything, the notion of a "tune up" is pretty much dead I think.

Your best best is to reset the pistons in the caliper so they sit the same distance as when the pads were new.

Best way to do that is to install the bleed cup on the lever with some mineral oil in it, work out a couple of bubbles in the lever, remove the rear wheel and squeeze the brake lever to the pads push a bit further out. I usually use 3-4 business cards as spacers for the best amount of free stoke.

Button everything back up. Should be good to go.

finally got around to it after paying the ridiculous price for a shimano bleed kit.   it did the trick - thanks.

Up until 2007 or so, North Van didnt have a water filtration plant and drank from Seymour and Capilano lakes.  Which came from the creeks.

It was chlorinated though.  Now, it is also filtered.  Creeks are neither.  That said I have occasionally had a gulp of creek water over the years.  Generally not worth the risk unless in a true survival situation.

trying to be open minded, but i fear you guys might be shooting yourselves in the foot here. this new forum software seems quite poor, can't see myself using it much... you may want tothink about keeping the old forum while you still can. it is quite possible that i will get used to it though, this is my initial reaction only.

Granville street bridge is quite possibly the worst place for a bike in the greater Vancouver.

It is the "test track" for all the ridiculous exotic car dealers on the south side. Used to have an office that overlooked the north end of the bridge. Supercars looping it all day.
