Going back to a hardtail was the best bike choice I've made in years…. I have had more fun riding since I got it in September then I've had in quite a while

edit? looks like a few things were missing from this review from when i skimmed it this morning…. namely a very sponsel-esh chart…. i like that style of writing… but sponsel is still more entertaining. Also, muffins are cakes disguised as breakfast.

You know what…. if they didn't want any shuttling, they should have put it in the race book from the beginning. Fab should have been at his meeting, or his manager should have been there to get any info for him. That's what you do when your pro.

I'll say it, I drove a retrival to Function for training on Stage 1 and 2 and I drove to the bottom at Alpine and rode up from there on Friday. Why? Cause they didn't tell us we couldn't until Saturday. And if anyone else drove up on Friday, what would have stopped them from parking in Function and riding Pura Vida for a training run? It was on the way into town. Anyone what to get me DQ'ed for it now, go for it, my 48th place finish I'm sure had a huge impact on your placing.

To be honest, I was a bit put off by their whole "spirit of enduro" talk during the riders meeting. I always thought the whole spirit of enduro was that it was a race format that was more like the average day of riding with your friends… and not "if you see someone braking our rules, take a pic and send it to us so we can bust them"

It's a good thing that the vibe of the race, especially in the master's class I was in, made up for that. It was a pretty awesome day, the biggest day of riding of my life and something I will never forget.

I went from a Reign to an Altitude… The Alti is a much stiffer and responsive bike. I also made efforts to have my Reign run more stiff (upgraded to a Lyrik as an example). The rear of the bike is a huge difference with that as well. I actually run my Altitude in the steepest setting the most and I find that it still descends with more confidence than the Reign… Slack it out and I'd almost take it to Whistler

hey jeff, how are you finding those straight pull wheels strength wise? I have an Altitude coming and I've been considering a wheel upgrade/swap once I get it

11 speeds and the huge cogs contribute to the problem, but having a chainring that is spaced outboard doesn't help.

Ideally a chain should run straight from the chainring to the center cog of the cassette. Mine are off a cog or two which in turn gives bad alignment when in the 42t ring. This is nothing new and I know how to fix it. I am just trying to find a suitable ring for my bikes.

Cinch cranks don't lend themselves to be spaced easily. Shimano rings can be spaced over due to the use of a spider.

Frustrating for sure but as with most things bicycle related, someone finds a way to mess things up so we have to keep buying new parts in the quest for the perfect ride.

I had Shimano cranks and tried to space over the ring… It did not help.

This is an 11spd problem, not a RF problem.

I find road bike sizing in general to be more about torso and leg length than height. My co-worker and I are similar heights but he has a longer torso and legs and thus is a size bigger than me on a road bike.

But at your height you are likely in the 58 - 59 cm range. And how that translates into physical sizes (large, XL) depends on what the manufacturer calls it.

Components cost a lot more than they used to.
Think drive trains, dropper posts, suspension. Tire prices have also increased about 25% in recent years.
A lot of bikes now also use more aftermarket parts as OEM spec, or have improved their house brand OEM spec parts a lot.

And some of it is probably just cause they can.

Said that from the beginning.

CMHC is taking stock of what they have. They know where Canada is going in terms of housing and mortgages, and know they're about to bleed some money. They likely just want to have all their ducks in a row and if they need a few hundred million, they know where to find it.

I bought a Reign 2 from Different's demo / rental fleet last year… It was barely used and served me very well! I'd give them a shout and see if they have anything, I know they try to have a good demo fleet through all their locations.

FYI, just over the Pipeline bridge in the LSCR there's 2 new parking lots going in and a large non-outhouse bathroom that just got built.

Just sayin'.
