It also seems to have more to do with age than anything else to me. Apparently they aren't keen on resigning Raymond, Edler is on the trading block, and Cory Schneider got traded.
What do all of these guys have in common? They are all the same age. Possibly we have just realized that we need cap space to push with cheaper veterans now, and then reload completely afterwards.
Not saying I'm a huge fan of this particular move, but just offering ideas on what may be going on.
I don't think either one has the passion to be captain (rather see Kesler with the C), but the twins are a huge asset regular and post season.
Kesler would be a great captain but only for the 40 or so games a year that he's medically cleared to play.
If Kesler had the extra responsibility of being captain, I think his game would suffer. IMO, it's better to let him play his style [HTML_REMOVED] concentrate on his game.

Yeah, I question whether I want Edler on the Canucks after that cheapshot at the worlds. That really wasn't something I'd expect from him. Pretty classless. That and he's bloody inconsistent in his play.

It'll be interesting to see what the flyers do with the contracts they're signing. At least Coburn is more likely to come to Edmonton with Vinny signing a huge deal.
