Gee looked so smooth it looked like he was riding down a blue run.

Quoted for truth, holy shit!

I think looking too smooth can really hurt, it happens in surfing comps alot, almost makes it look too pre-planned, whereas if you are pushing your limits, you get a little squirrely and it looks a lot faster/harder even though it may not be. It's hard to tell how big Gee is going on his run because it is so smooth. I think Strait may have taken it if his stem didn't snap off, but agree that Gee and Claw deserve 1 and 2 in either order.

To everyone hating on Zink and thinking Gee should have took it, look at the progression of big mountain skiing in the last 10 years. It's manditory now to trick your way down while still hitting the gnarly lines. The winner is the best at every aspect of skiing the line. Now don't get me wrong, Gee and Claws lines were amazing. But Zink's line was the most diverse in my opinion. That run just set a new benchmark for what can be done on a mountain bike. I'm already excited to see what Rampage 2012 brings us.

Pretty much everyone is saying that Zink's run was very bland other than his 360. What part of that is diverse? A single trick should not win a competition like this. A single trick wins Best Trick….

I think the claw did the best job of combining different aspects (gnar + tricks). Gee definately rode the terrain the fastest and smoothest.

In the end it's good to see 3 different styles of runs on the podium, at least that shows that there is a range of what people are looking for out there.

it's almost like score weighting for line choice isn't different enough….take a 'common' pre-built line, big trick one feature, win……build a crazy unqiue burly line, trick everything, get a bit squirrley once, you lose…..just affirms my belief that judged events, no matter how hard they claim to be based on specific criteria, really aren't…..

Darren almost ate shit right off the top, did nobody else notice this besides the judges? One foot on clinging on for dear life is not smooth. I haven't seen any other runs but out of those 3 the judges definitely got the order right.

i think zinc won it too. 3 sick runs but zinc had the hammer. gees wall thing was just as rad though… but up the ante like zinc did and you win a prize. Sure had a nice whip in there too.

Come on guys, Zinc deffinitly deserved that. That thing was huge and he 3'd it, plus made it all the way down the montain aftwerwards with a whip or two. If you can do something no one else even attempted, it's pretty much in the bag for you. Lacondaguys Crankworks win a few years back was all about his double backflip and no one bitched there.

Though I do admit Gee's was the most entertaining to watch for me. So smooth and fast and at the end he cleans the wallride hip jump thing no one else could land, butter.

In my mind a winning run should be flawless or as close to it as possible. When it came down to it Darren couldn't put his own original line together without screwing up. Originality is good, but it definitely should not outweigh a clean and consistent top to bottom run.

I've been jerking it to bike porn for about 14 years now… and I gotta say Gee's line is as close as you're going to get to Briana loves Jenna.
