Is reduced energy consumption a worthwhile goal?

It's not about reduced consumption.
It's about a wind-fall for the smart meter manufacturer (see Derek Corrigans comments above) and Hydro's union busting machinations.

Freedom of contract. We sell them guns that kill them; they sell us drugs that kill us.

Speaking of Corporations/business influencing government for their own gains and union busting…be sure to watch this show, it's been on tv a couple times already…slim pickings finding it for DL, but it's here

this is actually my opposition to the smrt mtrs…

its like one or two guys for all of PeeG and he would sometimes come west to smithers, when all you could do is read a meter by looking at it that made sense but tech has made buddy redundant, he will get retrained or be on UIC and do a bunch of skiing/biking for awhile but its really no biggy for his lifestyle

For joe lunch kit its really about the same mind set that killed the HST … we are gona show those assholes no matter how much $ it costs us

lulz that folks actually think that low skilled workers should get paid upwards of 25 bucks an hour to READ 6 NUMBERS ON A METER, when a $3 chip can do it for free.

No, I'm referring to those without the means to realize the law is written by and for those with means.

I'd rather see lower costs of energy based on not rebuying our electricity from California. Thats if the practice still exists.
