We'd like some input from you, the brilliant minds of the gear board, about test product.

What would you like to see in our test stable? (bikes, parts, apparel, accessories)

What have you seen us test that you don't care that much about?

What have you seen that you'd like to see more of?

Should we get a wrecking crew?

Thanks!

Adventure/travel/camping/long distance bikes, trailers, gear.

Wrong. Always.

The cost of items tested needs to come down to a realistic level. Can we all afford the latest 11-Speed, carbon wheels, $6500 world cup level bikes? Sure, it's nice to dream, but where are the tests of the low cost everyman's gear?

I'd like to see more indepth suspension mods and tweaks, both aftermarket and homegrown. Kinda like what we used to do with SPV and early marz/RS products.

Agree with tacklebox on suspension tweaks. A la MBA, it'd be cool to see a suspension mod: shootout on a stock bike between the suspension tuner's in Van and Whistler… to see what they'd do different to customise and optimise. SuspensionWerx, Vorsprung, Susp Therapy.

It'd be cool to see what makes a bigger difference on a stock bike - custom suspension tune, or just properly setup stock suspension.

I'd also like to see a bike test across a model to see how much of a diff componentry REALLY makes. IE - take a top-end Enduro and a bottom end Enduro back to back. Then we can see where our money should be spent, assuming the frame design and geo remains the same.

I also think cable ferrule testing would be riveting.

yes. the $10k wonderbike rollouts can be fun, though perhaps a bit stale in their typically uniform predictability (yes, of course they're amazeballs). it's refreshing to see the less heralded bang-for-the-buck bikes, parts, and homegrown cost saving hacks. though the high end has gotten progressively more stratospheric, there's fantastic performance to be had at lower price points - it just doesn't get as much press.

I'd be curious to see more local rider profiles and what they're riding. Which bikes they have and why. What mods they did and why. I'm always curious to see what weird and unusual changes people have made to their gear. Kind of like a gear-focused 'Hey Neighbour' in article/photo form.

There's nothing better than an Orangina after cheating death with Digger.

This is a great idea..

I really loved those "Reader´s Rides" articles a while back.

Very interesting, because it was actually affordable non-pro stuff with LONG TERM experiences.

I´d even opt to write one ;-)

I would also like to see less super high-end parts / bike reviews. Articles about $3000 wheels and $3500 carbon frames are everywhere and growing tiresome. More content on mountain bikers and their adventures, please. Don't get me wrong, reviews are nice, but would be refreshing to include more affordable options.

Tire tests on local trails. I don't care what works in Moab.

Or are Minion DHFs the only tire that works?

A few comparison head to head tests of gear like knee pads, gloves etc. The type of stuff that doesn't cost a fortune, but is really annoying if the details are wrong.

Our course with a head to head test there's going to winners and losers so advertisers might not like it…
