And peoples reasons for buying them affect you, how? Generalize much? 

My point is, it’s tiring to see the same anti ebike comments on nsmb. 

I’ve been participating in this site for many years (like going back 20 years with a different handle). I still ride mountain bikes, but my life has changed and I now also ride emtb. I won’t get into “the BS reasons” why.

Man you guys are cynical about e-bikes.

I get that it’s not a judgement. I’m not taking it that way and certainly not offended.

Sorry I don’t buy it. There are more affordable e-bikes out there. 

I’m saying it’s not necessarily the motor that is the luxury item in this discussion.

Also, there are plenty top tier meat bikes in the $15G plus range. It’s not really about e-bikes.

There has always been “luxury toys” in the sport. See your earlier comment re: XTR. I could never afford XTR when I was younger. It was a total luxury to run a Race Face turbine crank. Some of my friends even had dedicated riding shoes! Talk about luxury. It’s all relative, including one’s perception.

Everyone heard you the first few times. We get it. Move on to the next. Nobody forcing you to read or comment.

So. Tiring.

It’s easy to forget that Reach & Stack came out as an effective way to talk about DH bike sizing and then Reach alone sort of morphed into a magical one-number frame fit predictor. 

There have been plenty of attempts to talk about bike sizing using one measurement- essentially to replace what we had with effective top tube length.

I’d say effective top tube - assuming companies clearly tell you where to measure from - is still the best predictor of if a frame fits or not. It ignores preference for seat tube angle and etc, but as your fleet shows, Marty, across a range of years and disciplines it does deliver results.

Agreed. I find ETT is my first concern. Reach and standover are obviously important, but irrelevant if ETT is too long/short.

I just demoed a Pivot but couldn’t make nice with the top tube length in size M or L.

Another day and another hardtail session in the melting snow. On one hand lots of dirt has been exposed on the other hand lots of snow further up the mountain to melt still. I enjoy the technical challenges of snow and ice so I'm happy no matter what.

Wow I figured even the lower trails would be buried. Might have to get there on Sunday.

My black M/L Rootdown frame arrived Xmas eve. Thanks Santa! Looking forward to building it. Hope to have it on the trails by late spring. It’s been a minute since my last HT.

My lovely wife surprised me with a Topeak pressure gauge and a Crank Bros M19 multi-tool. 

Bought my 8 yr old boy a ‘21 Norco Fluid 2 FS. It’s a 24”. We did a loop yesterday and he was so stoked. 

Re: brakes - I’ve been using Codes for a year now. Zero issues and great feel. My XT probably had more power but EFF that wandering bite point. It was a deal breaker. I have read good reviews thus far wrt Deore brakes. Here’s hoping Shimano have resolved the issue. The new Deore kit is a big win for performance on budget.

My last four bikes have been new. That said, I only buy a model year old. I just picked up my new bike a month ago for 28% off retail. After selling my old bike, the gap isn’t too bad. Also, I tend to replace my bikes every two or three years so I have time to absorb the expense.

I was in the Victoria location a couple weeks ago and it was shoulder to shoulder busy, their tent prices are awful. Robinsons had everything I wanted but it was disturbingly quiet. :(
