We went to the ceremony at the Centotaph by Abbotsford City hall. My friend Colin died in Afganistan on July 4th, 2007; which also happens to be my birthday.

I'm ashamed to admit that 11:11 passed and I did not observe a moment of silence. I will take some time tonight to think about the sacrifices made. Thanks for this thread.

I started this thread on Remembrance Day 2011, then revived it this year. Both times I was kind of surprised no one had been discussing the day as it approached, that's all. Some good responses [HTML_REMOVED] comments.

thanks for the bump stu.

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

Since we're embedding music video's to show solidarity of sorts, I'll go with one I've posted many times before and a video that indirectly at the time of my first viewing of it, probably adversely affected me from enlisting when I was of age. Also posting because its still classically badass.

while taking one of my sons, who is an air cadet, to the service in Mission this morning I was disturbed at the sight of heavily armed ert members everywhere. a shame really. Still very proud of all the young people involved.:canada:

I meant to comment on that as I was leaving Stanley Park this morning. There were two police lock n loading out of their trunk with what could only be described at a glance as either a high powered rifle or a straight AR. They'd be hard to miss between the high vis vest and the AR slung over the shoulders. I do not have a problem with that at all either. Mind you at first, I was like 'wtf did I just do?", and then obviously realized the scope (get it?).

I took my family and our international student to both the ceremony and then wreath laying here in town today. I think it's important to teach the next generation to whom we owe our thanks.
