I have been thinking of trying out kite surfing too. My wife's family have a cabin at Anderson Lake, north of Pemby, and it blows down the lake almost every night around dinner as it starts to cool down. What is the cost to get outfitted with all the gear?

I ate a road side attraction and was sick to my pants for a week. I wasn't too impressed with restaurant food, everything seemed overly salty and or sweet. I couldn't find a decent loaf of bread. The bread there makes Wonder bread look like a loaf of 10 grain flax. But home cooked stuff was great and went to market every day for fresh fish and veggies. Much cheaper than grocery store.

if you want to kite in anderson lk budget for a very good wetsuit and booties. Maybe a boat for someone to come and get you if things go wrong as you;ll be solo out there

and a wetsuit

and a van you can sleep in

and an ex-wife (or lessons for her to prevent that)

I love the Filipino sense of color. The more the better too.

I might choke on the beak.

My uncle is like that too. Used to surf, surf, surf, then it was surfing and windsurfing.
Since he's got his kite, it's almost exclusively kiting.

If you like watersports then Kiting is a lot of fun and easy to learn, However, take lessons, it is the only sport where I think it is mandatory to take lessons. When the kite is up if something goes wrong you want to make sure you know how to get out of it and the safety systems, very important.

For lessons go either to Nitinaht lake and learn with Elevation or with them in La Ventana. The reason is she is IKO certified as many are but Nitinaht has the most consistent, most space and best wind to learn in. La Ventana in Baja is also an awesome place to learn. Elevation also uses brand new kites every year and uses North Kites the best in the business.

Once you fly one you will want one. North or Naish make the best kites bar none and they are more expensive. Look at 1100.00-1600.00 per new kite and you probably need one kite to start. I suggest a North Rebel 9 meter and then a 12 meter and you can go pretty much anywhere and kite. Boards, go used and try to rent or borrow a big board to learn and then buy a used board 130-138 which will be a little too challenging to learn on but perfect when you have spent some time. You will need a harness, wet suit and a helmet is a good idea as well. In all it is the same as mountain biking. Good gear is safer, more fun and cost a bit more but is worth the effort.

Once you try a surf board you will love it too so try it once you are going up wind etc. Like any wind sport the problem is that you have to search for wind and wait till it is windy but of course there is alwasy riding and other sports to do while you wait.

Awesome sport and tons of fun!
