I pretty much agree with what you are saying, and many sports (including women's gymnastics) have a culture of expectations that can lead to physical and psychological problems. Wrestling does present a good case in point. It is theater, but it also has a physically and technically demanding side (I'm not a fan or spectator, but many of those guys are "athletes" - basically 300lb guys doing acrobatics). There are a lot of issues around extreme body typing (and associated effects), injuries (including head injuries), drug abuse (including PEDs) and of course, lifestyle. 16% of 557 participants in a study of male pro wrestlers died before the age of 50. for sure i agree that those guys are great athletes, but seeing as the whole thing is scripted there's no way it can be considered sport.
