Arthur kicks ass regardless of what bike he's on. i remember riding up dempsey with him once - me on my 30lb nomad and him on his 45lb flatline… he still dropped me… and if i had a 29er, same result… maybe marginally less humbling though

Seen the Norco shinobi a few weeks back all done to the nines with xtr and such but the bike just looked like a winner it just had that look like it would be a awesome trail bike. Anyone on one ?

Yep, I've taken our demos out a few times. It feels like a pretty damn solid little trailbike.

@cdn_rider

The Shinobi you saw with XTR etc was most likely mine. I have been riding it for a while. I rode the Shinobi most of last fall and I have been riding my own for the spring. I ride Pemberton most of the time because its close to home! The bike makes pedaling and climbing a more enjoyable experience than any bike I have had before. The wheel size has become "normal" for me now and 26" bikes feel strange. I can't believe I said that! I had assumed that 29'rs were never going to work around here and they would be for mellow "mountain biking " only. I don't have time for a full review her but here are a few quick observations.

Pro
-the big wheels roll up and down the hill better
-there is increased traction on the climbs and really noticeable on the steeps
-cornering is good and gets better the farther you lean it over.
-there is no noticeable frame flex
-the 140mm fork is adequate for most situations. It feels stiff in the for/aft plane.
-rear suspension is very smooth, appropriate amount of anti-squat and good bottoming resistance
-angles and geometry are very good.

Cons
-Travel is travel and chundery sections and landings need to be hit with moderation.
-weight is slightly heavier for a comparable 26"bike (my bike is 30.5 lbs)
-ability to manual sections and for direction changes takes more body english
-lowish BB requires some skill and focus
-fork can be overwhelmed when it gets really ugly

Anyway here is a shot of one of our demo/rental Shinobis. We have a med and a large. They are specced with XTR trail!

Let me know if you would like to come up and try one out.

I work at Oak Bay Bicycles in Victoria. We have a Small and a Large in our demo fleet. PM me for more info so Cam doesn't get mad at me.

Ooh. That's a nice looking bike. Too bad it's a medium and my life partner isn't being nice about my getting a new bike right now.

Uh is the life partner paying for the bike?

It's simple, you earn the money, you want the bike, you buy the bike.

How hard is that?
