Bro's on the shore,
Buddies and I are building a new coaster down at Duthie Hill skills park near Seattle. Digger's new coaster caught my eye, and I was wondering if anybody could give me a measurement (or a guesstimate) of the distance between apex-to-apex?

Based on this picture I'm guessing about 5 meters… but measuring that out, seems like it might actually be more?

Thanks in advance!!!

By the way, here are some pics of two coasters we built last year at Duthie:

I got a chance to see the structure come to life and I would guess from peak to peak its about 20 feet just over 6 meters.

That's awesome, thanks for the info!

for the second (down hill) roller, would you guess about 40"/100cm vert from bottom of the valley to peak?

We have a site flagged with 4 rollers, each 16' apart apex to apex, but I want it to "flow", not so much a slow techy old-school coaster like the pimpcoaster. So we're debating if we need to make the apexes farther apart, or just keep the vert difference under say 30".

Someone should gap it.

If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Haven't hit it yet but it looks like it has more flow than the old one. Not as deep in between the peaks.

Shed head!

Ya I would guess about 48 inches of vert on the 2nd roller.

I agree. With the old one, you definitely had to have the speed [HTML_REMOVED] commitment to get up the second peak. The new one looks a little less angled.

I'd stick with height:distance ratio that you have in that second Duthie pic - that looks about right to me

I think the first drop is deeper on the new one, so there's still a ton of compression at the bottom which makes the second hump a bit harder to flow. Definitely one of those classic Shore stunts where you need to ride it a few times before you get the right speed.

appreciate the input.
That coaster rides great, very pumpy.. Its 2'x12', so 1:6. With that ratio, we could do 16' horizontal with 32" deep, or 20' with 40" deep rollers.

Still trying to wrap my head around wether building on a downhill grade will make things easier or harder…

I built the pimpcoaster…

I think the key is to have a nice big gradual valley in your coaster if you want it to flow. We built the pimp coaster with a super steep downramp, and about 1 big length transition in the bottom and it rides like a pretty tricky, technical move. you definitely want at least double a bike length for a big flowy coaster depending on how much speed and how big your downramp is off the start. You kind of just have to wing it I think and use your imagination…

I'm happy to get outside and enjoy nature while I can, but I fear for the future of humanity
