NBR used to be a very busy place, full of friendly folks and fun topics. Now it seems to have been reduced to around the same 20 or so posting much of the time. My thoughts are that there is a hatred for anyone who is a Christian or of any type of a right wing view. They are constantly attacked by people that I wont name,yet I am sure you know who they are.They are attacked viciously,repeatedly and without any care as to their opinions, and that is what has driven away people and stopped many from posting.

Post something anti Christian and it is all good, post anything anti Islam and you are a bigot, and it then turns into a Christian/right wing bashing thread regardless.

Sad to see this has happened, how do we fix it and make NBR fun again.

I fully expect to be attacked for posting this, but that will only further prove my point.

it will definately see its share of roadtime as i do not own a vehicle and will be riding to my destinations. therefore im thinking 2 x 10 is going to be a better option

being new to all this again. after reading other posts it looks like i wont be in my granny all that much except for climbs…and dropping to granny probably only for the real steep climbs. Is that 2 tooth difference going to be that noticable

If you're going with the 2x10, go for the 24/38 as it will provide the greatest range of gears and will have less overlapping of gears.

You could probably manage quite nicely with 1x10 using a 34 or 36T front chainring and the 11-36T cassette . (Most DH bikes only use a 36T front chainring) The only time you'd be using the top gears would be on the road. Since the bike is a 26" hardtail, it will pedal more efficiently. It will be a bit of a struggle at first, but once you get used to it, the 1x10 will be far superior to the 2x10 system.

How so? It does seem odd that Specialized and Trek are more popular. Might be related to the lefty fork that Cannondale has promoted for years. People look at that and think it can't be stiff enough based solely on looks. Or being proprietary you can't just get a Fox fork without also needing a new stem and hub or wheel.

I think it may be more because of having to deal with the distributor, Dorel.

This is actually somewhat true. The bearings/bushing in Straightlines are not very durable.

The bearings/bushings suck in those pedals. They only last for a couple of months.
