Stolen from RideMonkey, but I found it pretty cool since I usually build my bikes from scratch (including wheels and redoing brake lines).

must be soooo satisfying to build your own from scratch.

kperras, you should a video of time delayed photographs of your next build?

Please let me demonstrate the ride around; really it's no trouble.

pretty cool, although pretty much everyone I know does the same, with the exception of wheels. That's one thing I keep telling myself that I have to learn but never have.

Wheels are the most satisfying part.
I'm still not sold on having to face a BB/headtube, that should be a manufacturing step, not an assembly step.

and the fact that you've offered to teach me wheelbuilding makes it even more lame that I haven't done it yet. I've got one coming up, maybe it will be my first.

true, probably because they're the only challenging part if you're building from new

Building wheels from new is actually very satisfying because it's quite easy to get new rims and spokes to go straight with even tension. It's maintaining wheels that's the real challenge!

Nice vid. Is there a benefit to redoing the brake lines out of the box? I'm in the midst of a build right now and they seemed to set up without issue.
