Watching Las Vegas possibly win the cup as an expansion team really shows how shit the Canucks have been since the last cup run. No rebuild, no marquee players, terrible draft picks.  Just put a shit product on the ice, with a who cares attitude. Sad really. Even the biggest Canuck fans I know have moved on, no one seems to care anymore. Really lost the fanbase bigtime.

C'mon that's a shit statement. I'm sure every gm in the league would love the opportunity to pluck a good young player from the other twenty nine teams. I believe the 'nucks are going in the right direction

That's pretty accurate imo. I've been on a Canucks-fan-haitus for at least the last three seasons. I'm pretty sure we or the team is still feeling the Gillis effect somehow. That being said, I did go to a game against the Blackhawks mid Feb and it was one of the best vibes I've felt at a game for a long time, that's including one of the Canucks 2011 Playoff games against the Kings. Like think back to the West Coast Express days and the Molson Fan Zone era. I think the amount of real beer options now inside the stadium also had something to do with the vibe.

I also think a good portion of fans have actually moved away from the city, or they have much better things to spend their discretionary income on. At least ticket prices arent still at the "sold out" level anymore.

So you are saying that  to pluck a non protected player from all the teams to build a winner. Would be easier than developing  your draft picks into the current system? I will somewhat agree with you but I dont see a move in the right direction.

The Canucks have no one to build around, unless they trade for or sign a couple marquee free agents, they will be in the basement of the league for years to come.
