If there's a way to fuck it up completely, Ford will figure it out. Pricing is clearly set to compete with Tesla truck, but Tesla will be producing theirs starting late this year, Ford not until 2023.

Using the vehicle as a de facto generator for home power is interesting, but they don't talk about the things you have to do with your home in order to use that feature.

Ford sold more F-Series trucks in 2020 than Tesla sold vehicles.  I'm sure they'll do just fine with selling golf carts.

I have think for the average truck buyer they will be happy to wait a couple of years for a truck that actually looks like a truck instead of a door wedge.

I still doubt Cybertruck will look that way in production.  That was a classic Elon publicity stunt

The F-150 is basically the most successful vehicle line ever made so Tesla or Rivian or any other manufacturer entering the electric pickup market has their work cut out for them.  Truck people trust the F-150 and will buy the Lightning.  I can't say that for other the trucks.  They are also coming off the assembly line in 2022 from what I have read so they won't be far behind.

I doubt that it will change much. There are 900k pre-orders that are entirely based on what's been revealed so far.

Tesla's strategy is brilliant - tap a new niche of potential truck owners that never existed before and take it over. Why target the "average truck owner" when one already knows that the average truck owner is already a captive audience?

The average truck owner thinks that coal rolling is really cool and funny. So why would Tesla try to tap that market?

Even if Tesla does better on the styling they will wait for the F-150.  People that buy full sized trucks want exactly what Ford is selling.  I have never owned a full size pickup but I want one.

You have a survey to prove this? Demographics to show who the average truck owner is? Have you ever owned a truck yourself?  Considering that only about 12% of pickup trucks are diesel it would be a huge misnomer to say that the average truck owner thinks rolling coal is funny.

The real KenN would not have presented such a facile argument. Who is this imposter and what have they done with the real KenN? The NSMB forum police must investigate! Gentleman, prepare the horses, for at dawn we ride!

We'd been looking at the F150 hybrid as our next vehicle, but now that the details on the Lightning are out, it looks like it's going to be the replacement for our SUV once the lease is up.

What is this new niche of truck owners?

Also - LOL at calling a fully refundable 100$ deposit to get a place in line "900K of pre-orders". Call me when we see the conversion rate on that. 3 people in my office pony'd up "just in case".

I own an f150, with the teeny tiny 2.7 eco boost.

I think rolling coal is stupid.

I am intrigued by the lightning, but charging stations out in the bush are few and far between..   gonna take a pass on this one.
