Is there duty on bringing tires back from the states?

I assume you're talking about car/truck tires?

If they aren't made in North America, yes. I think it's 6%.

Plus HST.

You might get a nice customs guy and they'll give you a break. I had one that only charged me duty on the tires from a tire/wheel set even though the wheels were made in Japan.

well, yeah, that's kinda the point of getting them in the US tax and duty free.

I found that mostly if you are under 400$ for tires they do not make you come in and pay the HST etc.

Pay cash, then drive along a dusty/dirty fireroad for a bit. Seems a bit weird though.

If I were to get tires, I'd incorporate a biking trip along with it.

1. Cross border
2. Get tires then get some shuttling action in

When I picked up mine in December, I only payed HST on the tires themselves, no shipping to Pt Roberts.
