This thread is dedicated to the Downhill / Free-Ride Bike / Slope Style Bike.

Use this thread to post up your Downhill / Free-Ride Bike and discuss away.

Feel free to share some details on your set-up, weight or whatever makes it special to you.

Is DH dead? 2016 only saw a handful of posts and about 1,500 views. My first thread like this was the most popular thread on the NSMB gear forum….ever (200,000 views in 2008 ). Will 2017 see the DH bike disappear on the NSMB boards????

Here's mine: Rocky Mountain Maiden Carbon. Not bad riding something you had a hand in designing. The below picture is a LG but I've since moved to the XL (455mm reach) since I'm 6'1".

Highlights / Special items:
- XTR Di2 with saint short cage mod

Rest is off the shelf items:
- Factory Float suspension F+R
- RF SixC cranks and 30mm rise bars, cut to 780mm
- RF Altas DM stem and Next SL seatpost
- WTB SL8 carbon saddle
- Current wheels are Flow EX (MK2) rims laced with 1.8/1.6 WTB (Shadar) spokes, alloy nips, and DT 350 hubs. I have some 30mm Rocky branded carbon rims to add this winter, on the long to-do list for this bike.

Had procore installed but removed it. Will re-install when the carbon wheels go on.

Here's a bit of a timeline from the past few years

And action shot, by Ravens Eye Photography, from Diggler a few years to end it with:

Awesome, finally a thread that has my full attention hahaha.
Dh bikes are far from dead.
I ride an intense 951, fox 40's with thompson stem, full saint, THE run flat rims (LOL) on hope hubs, trimmed maxxis tires. Lots of the parts from my previous bike.
Kept breaking the stock rear ends so it has been rewelded with gussets by a top quality company.
My future upgrades over the winter will be new handlebars since mine are starting to bend, new drive train, a fancy clutched saint rear derailler, fox x2 air rear shock is what I can think of for now.

I need some suggestions on a new frame tho.
My guidelines are nothing to fancy.
Atleast 8" of travel, 150mm hub spacing and preferably uses a 9.5" length shock. The most important thing is it has to be strong and handle an incredible amount of abuse.

Let's get this thread going!

Thanks for embedding for me Dean! The bike looks a little dirtier these days :)

That RM Maiden will be my next DH bike - but not for a few seasons yet.

Bought this in near-new shape from one of the Norco Factory Racing guys at the end of last season (funnily enough, right after hurting myself in the bike park). Always lusted after a pimp DH rig even though it's WAY beyond what my mediocre abilities call for.

Have only had two days on it but love it so far… need to dial in suspension settings more once the snow melts.

Aurum Carbon
'16 Fox Factory 40 Float + DHX2 (will put an SLS spring on when I settle on the right weight)
Saint shifter/mech w/ 7 speed DH block
ZEE brakes + RT86 rotors
Race Face SixC 35 10mm rise bars + Atlas 50mm stem (may swap for 20/35mm rise, front feels a bit low now)
Race Face SixC cranks + 36T chainring, top guide/bash only.
Race Face SixC seatpost + Atlas I-beam saddle
Novatec Demon rims + Factor fast engagement rear hub and Novatec front hub
Schwalbe Magic Mary SG VertStar tires, tubeless
