Yep. I'm doing it singlespeed so should be ideal :)

Seeing as there are now two hardtail build threads, I'll post in here too.

My 18" On One 456 Summer Season. 1x9 SRAM/ Shimano clutch mix, Marzocchi 55, XTR brakes and random rims on 20mm/10mm bolt-thru axles, Chromag, RaceFace, Spank and Sunline bits

It's a blast to ride, and the 32 ring with 11-36 cassette still lets me climb all of our punchy Pemby ups.

Slight build progress! I'm gonna have to go with silver cranks for the time being as I have a perfectly fine set of LX cranks sat around doing nothing, and can't find any cheap black ones for sale anywhere.

How much does that weigh approx I am thinking about a similar frame and forks combo and reusing my existing drivetrain and brakes.

1x9 SRAM/ Shimano clutch mix,

PembyRocks - This idea really appeals to me… are you using a spacer under the cable clamp on the mech like this? http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/XTR-9.jpg

Not too sure. I'll weigh it next time I'm at the bike shop. It weighs quite a bit less than my Enduro evo, which comes in around 34lbs

Swapping pedals to Time's. Now just need a gravity dropper post to complete it.

Thats good enough, my target is to get something in the low 30's rather than the high 30's which is where we are at currently. stock reminder set up with on-one

here's my 2013 hardtail.

a few updates, ready for longer summer rides

  • icon out back is fast as nuts
  • only one ride on the nic up front (thanks andy!), seems to roll really well but still brake and corner strong
  • no appreciable difference between the slx's i kicked to my son's bike and the xt's that replaced them
  • revelation set to 120mm of travel is subbing for the 44 micro switch ta while it gets some love from naz and alex. still need to swap the blackbox dampers in
  • gravity dropper hasn't proven as indispensable as it was on the 26" hardtail but still very nice to have
  • tl28's are holding up well. rear wheel could do with a true, but spoke tension has remained consistent and no rim damage so far. so light, so wide, so good!

the love affair continues

Something about fat tires on a frame with smaller diameter tubes just looks proper doesn't it?

Debate? Bikes are made for riding not pushing.

agreed.
Like a fat little rally racer, it's a great look.

I'm not there yet.

Bought the bike from an awesome NSMB member, and then I rode it. Hard. Fun.
After putting a few miles on it, I put a matching Stroker Gram Lite on the front along with a 203mm rotor. Call me old school but braking is important.

The bike is a blast to ride. I'm waiting for hockey season so end, and the sunny weather to really kick in for some pump track and dirty jump sessions.
