Where do you get the clear protective tape (3M?) to use on a frame? haven't found any searching Canadian tire, Rona or Home Depot (online - need an Okanagan dealer). Maybe I'm using the wrong search, wrong place. help is appreciated.
Thanks

$8 per square foot. I think they have bulk on 3 foot wide material.
TEAM CRAFTY
It's good stuff, but for downtube protection, I use the thicker headlamp protection. Comes in a two pack. Guessing it's 2 or 3mm. I just use the regular 3M stuff for all other frame taping, since rocks and shuttle rub destroys the regular stuff.
Best source and best prices are:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/cs/tape_leadingedge.html
they supply the stuff that is used on aircraft leading edges (wings, helicopter rotor blades etc).
comes in 1", 2" etc rolls so there is less trimming involved.
I have a 1" and 2" roll and wish that I had got the 4" roll as well for some of the larger carbon tubes on my bikes.
Extremely tough, stays on well, best applied on totally clean (ie cleaned with alcohol) surface and using heat gun/ wife's hair dryer to mould the curves etc in tubes.
Good luck.
Everyday on a bicycle is a good day!!
Got mine from Lordco as well. Big roll of 1" wide tape.
Why slag free swag?
ummm, as your doctor i recommend against riding with a scaphoid fracture.
Lordco.
MEC has a big, wide chainstay protector that works awesome as a downtube protector. It is approx 2mm thick and made of a clear plasticky gel material that is hardly noticeable when applied. Great protection, cheap and it sticks really well.
In the USA, it is marketed under the Dimension brand.
I bought a few sheets of the clear protection tape stuff.
Would this stand up if put onto the chain stays for chain slap? I've found the stuff doesn't seem to want to stick when I wrap it all the way around the tubes tho…
superheros
I like bikes
^Clean the heck outta the frame, then apply rubbing alcohol solution to frame and backing of tape.
Soft side of velcro with sticky back works great for stays as well. Keeps the slap noise down. Find that at sewing and fabric stores. Apply the same way as the 3M tape
