The rock spine will be sorely missed. The trail after it is heavily eroded and often wet, but any chance of armouring it to keep that line to the skinnies and Pangor Rock? It's such a sweet feature…

It's not as simple as armouring it up. The original rock work was put in place because that area is a groundwater spring. Water is constantly flowing downt he trail when it rains, and it's impossible to do anything about it, so the best (only) solution is to re-align the trail. Heckler may have a more comprehensive insight to the re-route.

That's a sufficient explanation. I've never actually stopped to scope out the source of the water on the wet days, and I don't live there, so it was worth asking. I wasn't sure how much was from rolling out pretty hard and braking to make the turn into the skinnies, which could call for a rock box, but a flowing spring would necessitate a reroute. I'm sure it'll be good, so look forward to trying it in September. All the other fixes on Pangor have been great.

there's a small creek that was flowing pretty good last night above the rock spine. it pops out from underground right at the base of the rock spine, and flows down the trail, all the way down over the roots in photo above. The roots have been closed off and the tree roots covered with duff.

I have the same problem closing the rock spine (I still remember the trailday when we built it), but the reroute planned to go around it will cross the trail below the spine. If there was a way to prevent head on collisions at the intersection, I'd do it, but a 15 foot high bridge ala angry midget/half nelson intersection would be needed. Not gonna happen.

The new upper reroute will allow you the option to ride into the big rock skinny, or keep going onto the existing lower reroute.
