RETURN OF THE RIPPER: June 3rd - 5th

Obsession: Bikes presents the 2011 Return of the Ripper in conjunction with MEC’s Bike Fest.

The weekend of June 3,4,5 will be the Weekend of the Bike as we gather at InterRiver Park and Celebrate the world we live in – The World of Mountain Biking.

Obsession: Bikes - as the name implies – is Obsessed with Bikes and we will be bringing it all together for an action packed weekend of Racing and Biking that the whole family can enjoy. For 2011, we are putting together an event weekend that is more like the North Shore Rippers of days gone by:

3 events that celebrate the trails, bikes and friends that make up the great sport that we love. At the end of the weekend a Ripper King, Queen and Team will be crowned. Ripper King and Queen will be determined by the best results in all 3 events. This rider will have to compete on the same bike throughout - including the same wheels. The Ripper Team will be the team that performs best in the Specialized Super D.

Ryders Eyewear is celebrating their 25th year of protecting our eyes with an XC Prologue and Vintage Mountain Bike Show and Shine:

The event weekend begins with a hot lap of the Richard Juryn Trails on Friday @ 7pm. This will be a time trial format with riders leaving the start in one minute intervals with an approximate winning time of 9 minutes.

Go All Out! This event will be a seeding event for Sunday's Specialized Super D.

In honour of Ryders Eyewear's 25th Birthday, there will be a Vintage bike category for this event! Dust off the old Ritchey, Proflex, Stumpjumper or Y-Bike and take it for a lap of the course.

Afterwards we are going to head back to Interriver park to celebrate with a Birthday Bash and vintage Mountain Bike Show and Shine.

Trek Bikes XC Marathon!

Trek Mountain bikes have been ridden by many of the finest BC riders including Alison Sydor and Roland Green, AND it is only fitting that they sponsor the North Shore Marathon XC for 2011.

In true Ripper fashion the course will deliver the finest that the shore offers thus dispelling the myth that there is no XC riding on the Shore.

The Route Has Been Set!?!?!?!?

Trek Bikes XC Marathon starts at 10:00am at Interriver park and winds through some of the Fabled Gnar of the North Shore before returning to the Richard Juryn trail for the finish.

Expect to ride in the Circuit 8, on Bridle path, Sticks [HTML_REMOVED] Stones ([HTML_REMOVED]3 Matt [HTML_REMOVED] Sean), Old Buck, Severed D , and many other Juicy Trails for a 2-hour-and-15-minute expected winning time.

Specialized Enduro Super D:

Specialized Bikes created the All-Mountain-Bike category with the first Enduro bike in year 2000. Today's Enduros fuse light weight and 6” of travel to create one bike that can do it all.

In honour of the Enduro, Specialized is sponsoring the Ultimate Shore Challenge - The 2011 Enduro Super D.

The Specialized Enduro Super D will start 10:00am at the CBC Trail Head. This is a time trial format with both solo and team categories.

Racing from the top of Seymour to the bottom through a range of trails that will include many of the Shore's best. Expected winning time will be 22 minutes.

The Team category is really THE return of the ripper as riders can posse-up with their buddies and hound dog together down the finest that Seymour offers.

Proceeds from this category will be forwarded to North Vancouver’s Harvest House to help those less fortunate. So call your riding buddies and set up a team, then call other buddies and challenge them to see who`s group are the real North Shore Rippers.

what's the super D course after CBC?

i hear rumors of TNT, climbing upper ned's, etc, which would mean some hike-a-bike and it would be much longer than "22 minutes".

winning time is 22 Clark. that means Wade and Arthur or the Traslins.

top to bottom in 22 minutes? Can't be a lot of uphill but knowing James, it'll feel like there is. Where's the finish?

Well.. if it is anything like Super D's in the past they either took out some of the old course(s) or technology has made everyone faster…

Sounds like it's gonna be a fun weekend. However it's a damn shame that you scheduled it on the same weekend as the FVMBA race events. Oh well…
