Just put in the existing bolt with loctite. It'll hold.

depends on how stripped it is.. don't think he'd want loctite it especially since it's for header.. you don't want any exhaust leak

He can toss the gasket and loctite the header too. If it fails, no problem as Ross has a big wallet.

BTW Rossco, how did you manage to strip the thing in the first place?

an RC motor is small enough to take to a machine shop to get it done for small potatoes compared to the $$$ you talk about spending on the hobby

I fixed cracked motorcycle cases with liquid aluminium back in the day

I dunno how it would hold up with heat and being taken off all the time but it fixed cases that had cracked due to jumping chains

i had some problems on my zuki 2stroke bike with the head studs pulling out. to give the heli coils that extra little bit of help i use jb weld on them. these holes had been heli coiled before, and ripped back out again. the jb weld made the difference between ripping out the 3rd time and staying put.
jb weld: mechanics secret weapon. on that same bike i fixed a huge gaping crack in the case with it. working on another bike now with some severe corrosion in the water pump/right hand housing, you guessed it JB WELD!

Loctite makes a sleeve and bearing retainer product that is pretty bomber stuff,it worked for me on a creaky raceface crank arm and I needed a pipe on the end of the crank puller to get the arm off later on … a tip from a mechanic at BCR
