Unless you need a different style of vehicle or are going to buy something new (or near new) keeping what you've got is the best option.

More info would help but it sounds like your truck is worth fixing. Since you haven't mentioned diesel it's probably the 6.0/4l80e combo in a 2500, solid and cheap to maintain.

Tires and shocks are regular wear items. If they're done replace them.

Rattling could be lots of things. First thing I would check is exhaust heat shields, crawl under there and see if anything is loose (obviously do this when the truck is cold). Does your parking brake work? Cables/linkage could be mangled, especially if things were rusted up and someone stomped the pedal.

The "Needs gearbox service" is the only scary part. Based on what?

because its starting to clunk into gears? ive never had an automatic before and this will be my last…. is it an expensive gearbox?

Dear NBR… should I spend money on my truck. or sell it and find another.

Its a chevy 2500 03 model.
Could do with new tyres (maybe by next spring… they are all seasons and winter rated but probably ill end up procrastinating and buying when the snow starts falling)
But my shocks are pretty fucked, and theres a nice rattle starting to come from somewhere under the cab… engine is good though could use a gearbox service…
