I will allow myself a little advertisement, because I guess there are still some Blafa lovers on the North Shore ;)

I've just launched new Balfa website including probably everything connected with our bikes: geometry, technicals, suspension design notes, information about spare parts and accessories, reviews, logos… There is also something about Appalache Real (data, comparison with BB7).

Site is currently at www.balfa.wooyek.pl
(domain is Polish, but don't worry, the site is in English)

I'm still working on improving it, so if you'd like to participate - please, contact me.

PS. Please, don't consider it as spam, this info is approved by Cam.

So is Balfa making bikes still?

This trip to Kelowna was definately an undertaking - Liam and I had been planning this project for 24 hours. We worked really hard to pull out all the stops in this video. We had slo-mo goggle shots; time lapses; pedal flips; outrageous product shots; unloading and loading the bike; walking through the field with your hand in wheat. At the end of the day this trip was all about just getting out and riding with all my friends.

No, but due to unique design (high pivot suspension, Cr-Mo swingarm), many people are still interested in them - riding these bikes or thinking about buying one (eBay etc.). And for now, my website is the only complete source of information about the BB7 ;)

interesting to see how head angles have changed since then. 66* head angle would be considered really steep for a DH bike these days, and a 15" BB height? might as well ride a horse… ;)

of course, I'd still ride one.

The Balfa name was sold to their UK distributor a bit ago, with the then Balfa guys starting Appalache.

Can still get current Balfa frames from them in the UK. http://www.balfa.co.uk

I have a Minuteman and will never sell it.

When all that crap started happening back in 04 or 05? I tore the balfa stickers off, put them in an envelope, and mailed them to Procycle.

hahaha, this is very similar to my old BB7, except I had a 24 in the back. Great DH bike in those days. How times change.

Nice site man.

As other pointed it out, it would be complete if you could add info on the other bikes: Nouveau-Riche (NR), Bobonum, 2Step, Belair, Minuteman, etc.

I'm emailing you the 2002 user manual (pdf file)…it could be a nice addition to your website.

Cheers! :)

Thank you for all the feedback :)

I've already started to collect all the information and data to add sub-sites for other Balfa models, although they won't be so detailed as for BB7. Bobonum and NR will be surely mentioned in "History" section, while both 2-Steps, Belair and Minuteman will probably have sections similar to Appalache. But we will see… ;)

I had a 2-Step and we still have a Belair. I thought the 2-Step pedalled horribly, but maybe that was just my lack of technique. The Belair is a great platform though, but a really cramped cockpit for the frame size.
