Claymore Day Two

Justin 1pm :  So today’s blog will start with a rant. Chubey and myself are not 25 so we can not rent a car and have to rely on taxis and others for rides when we are in the states. This would not be a problem if taxis in Tilton would pick their customers up! We woke up at 10 am called our taxi and got are stuff ready to go. The taxi was supposed to show up at 10 40. – no big deal, we don’t mind waiting a little while, so we chilled and watched the last 30k of the 11th stage of the tour de France.

At 11:30 we where wondering what the heck was taking this cab so long so we gave them a call. I say hey are you going to be showing up soon, we have a practice for a completion we need to get to. She says yes, I will be there in 10. Well it is 2:30 and I am ranting in my hotel room instead of riding the course at the mountain. Oh and the two other taxi companies in town would not drive us to the mountain ten minutes away because “it is to far away they say” I hate some small American towns.

There should have been a cab sitting in this picture… There was not.

Mitch: 11PM;  So today, lets try not to talk too much about today, It’s a touchy thing.  Justin explained about the taxis and how they would not pick us up since were like 5 minutes out of their way and how it would not work out in their favour.  Anyways we could not take not riding, so long story short, we rode there.  It must have been from watching the tour.  It was 8kms there by what Google said.  We selected the shortest route.  We definitely did not take it. We got lost.  Twice.  We caught a ride back to the hotel with Aaron Chase the night before, and he took the back roads and it was the way we attempted to go.  We rode past a the first turn ended up in a small town called Belmont. Turns out it’s closer to Highlands thn Tilton is but its still the long way.  We get Directions and turns out they were wrong or we did them wrong since it took us down this massive loop that came back to on its self. It was an extra 5 miles we didn’t need.  My SX Slope bike on its own pedals really well.  300 plus psi in the shock makes it pretty much locked out.  It has a full 9 speed road cassette and light low rolling resistance Maxxis tires, but with a slammed seat and a anti crank spinner it makes it unpleasant to pedal over long distances.  I just figured out our route on Google.  26.3 kms.  Defiantly took the extra long way.

This is the small village of Belmont and this is the main intersection of it, that’s how big it is.

When we got there we were super amped to ride.  It had just rained and the course needed it and looked dialed.  We ran inside the lodge to get a drink and finish our sign in papers.  We were on our way up the course and Dave ran out and told us that we could not ride since there was no EMP on site since they had decided to send them home because the rain was supposed to pour and not lightly shower like it did.

Justin Roading it up like Lance, who is in third and 8 seconds down BTW.

There was a rider BBQ and the food was amazing.   Burgers, Chicken, salads and chips.  Everyone was there – all the riders.  There was even a band playing.  After dinner some of the riders went up onto the course for a little extra after hours practice.  I got the course dialed in, and it’s easily one of the funnest courses to ride down.

Tomorrow there is practice all day and the sun is supposed to be out.  We are going to get a few shots with the GO Pro so we’ll have that up soon and wait to ride!
