Bender, who was seen riding an Ellsworth - is eyeing up a 100 foot vertical drop. "You heard me" was his reply when we said "Pardon?". No gap though - straight down to a steep ass tranny. A larger version of the Jah Drop near Kamloops. Photo ~ Cam McRae

:???: Whats the deal?

I don't get the Bender hating. He pushed freeriding hard early on. It's not like the Jah drop is run of the mill now. Apparantly at the last Red Bull Rampage, no one would attempt the big gap/drop until Bender flailed it.
If anyone can go 100', it's probably Bender.

Okay, after twenty-some years I'm a bit sketchy on my high-school physics, but won't he be moving at somewhere over 70 km/h straight down when he hits the tranny?

It had better be a VERY steep tranny, or he's going to leave an impact crater.

Guys do it on Ski's. I won't be suprised if Bender pulls it off.

There as a time when we all thought 20 foot drops were impossible, and now all kinds of people are going that big.

Bender's approach doesn't do it for everyone, but the guy has knocked down boundaries that many people thought the sport would never get past.

Straight down is not possible, Gap is a little more realistic cause your coming in more horizontal then just straight down. Skiing nothing can compare when you have a foot of pow under you or more.

I really doubt it is straight down…Someone has had some sort of misunderstanding. You are always going to move forward when you drop something…unless you are suspended over the edge and then let go…

Bikes have a foot of travel under them. Of course you can't make a direct comparison to ski's, but you can make a relative comparison pretty easily like I did. 100 feet on ski's is massive, but it isn't record breaking. 30 feet on a bike is gigantic, on ski's its not a big deal for the guys who do that sort of thing.

I don't think it is impossible that Bender will stick this.
