Vancouver can only dream of a trail network and the trail support that Rossland has.

lived in Rossland for awhile…. I'll take the Shore anyday anytime for riding bikes.

Red and Granite MTN do have the best ski/board mountain in BC when they get snow.

Overall Rossland is a great place to live.

i''ll agree with you there. for the type of riding i love, nothing beats the real shore.

We don't know what our limits are, so to start something with the idea of being limited actually ends up limiting us.

2 more years of school and i will finally be able to move to the koots. the lower mainland sucks man. who cares if you have mountains in your backyard, you gotta sit in traffic/on transit for 1.5 hours to get to them. plus, there is still loam in rossland.

A few of those trails in Rossland were made from our dirt bikes oh………..20 years ago. Tried to ride one last summer with my buds MX bike and got some hate from some locals on the trail, kinda funny.

I punched Dallas Drakes sister in the eye when i was a little kid(which i am not proud of) , i was on the run from him for while. My claim to fame :) ha ha

So true about Vancouver woman, icey cold. In Europe, south America, or small town BC a smile or eye contact, or hello is just being friendly.

If Rossland trails were so good i think my bud wouldnt be coming out here for a week in august to ride.

I still like the shore better than any other place I've lived in or visited. Vancouver on the other hand…

What is key here is that the KCTS has established land use agreements with about 40 private land owners allowing non-motorized use of the trails. This is a greater acheivement than the building of the trails - all be it the land owner can rip up the agreement at any time. Motorized use threatens these agreements. On reason is that forest companies' insurance rates are linked to losses to forest fire, and motorized trail use is a risk factor.

I hear that every once in awhile around here. MXers were indeed on the mountains long before mtbers. But what happened? They either lost interest or the trails became eroded and weren't fun anymore or for whatever reason they were abandoned. Mountain biking becomes popular, trails get built using abandoned routes and 20 years later some MXer comes back to the trail that's been buffed and maintained by other users and say "hey, that's my trail"

Kinda funny indeed.

MX popularity in the '70s provided all the buff epics in Washington State. Now they are scarce. Demographics and popularity tend to be the root of all user conflicts, particularily where there is a history of trail design that didn't consider all eventualities.

If Rossland's popularity continues to grow, they'll need more trailsto spread the impact - good thing there is the political will orgnaization and land resources to keep ahead of the curve.

ride, build, ride some more….
