So I got the Risse Racing flat crowns for the 888r. I know there has been some interest in these so I thought I'd post the results.

The set up I have is:
2003 Bullit, King steelset, 200mm 888r, and 26" wheels front/rear.

I've got the lower Risse crown set about an 1/8" up from the MIN line on the fork leg. I put it all together and the top crown sits right at the top of the fork legs (perfect fit-any longer stack height and it wouldn't have fit). My stack height is 6 3/8".

With the new crowns the height of the top tube-right behind the head tube-is an inch lower….good enough for me. Just put them on so I haven't had a chance to ride it yet. The GOLD crowns look dope.

You don't need the top crown portion of that kit to get the lower front end.

So…lucky for you, you are free to use the Risse lower (which is what drops the front end) and retain the Marz. upper crown.

If your stack height is less that 6 3/8" then they'll fit on your Bighit.

You could get just the lower crown ($95 USD) + steerer ($30 USD) which would cost you $125 USD. For the extra $25 it is worth it to get the top crown even if you don't need it.

I ended up paying $162 USD for the set up after shipping and tax. The shop I ordered them through in Ferndale, Washington (15 miles past the border) got them to me in 2 days….Risse has a quick turn around time.

by stack height you mean headtube plus headset right? just wanted to clarify. usually stack height is a measurement used to determine the length of steerer tube.

Yeah, I measured the distance between the crowns (headtube and headset). That's what I've always understood stackheight to mean.

YUP, new pads in the Hopes. How do you know my breaks squeal? Those damn brakes made so much noise in Whistler.

There is a guy named Gene Arnold with a post in the mtbr classifieds that is/was selling some risse crown sets for 100 us. top + bottom + steer included. I got a set for 106 with shipping, and they are brand new. He runs teamfatbastard.com or something. I am currently in the states so I am not sure how it would work shipping to Canada, but give him a shout if you are looking into these. I think he only had black ones.

Sucka
