Do you really have to send Avalanche shocks in for service every 6 months or is that just recommended for maximum performance. I was considering an Avy but having to ship it to the States every 6 months is not too appealing. This would be for the nitrogen re-fill.

No.

Any MX shop that deals with nitrogen charged shocks can do this for you. Its a good idea to call around to a few MX shops to find out if there's one in your area. As far as I know, for the Vancouver area, there's Holeshot Racing in Langley. Called all the Honda Motorsports, Kawa's, and two of them referred me to that one shop.

I see you're from the AB, so I'm pretty sure you'll have better luck than one store.
