if you are going to shuttle just slow down and wave at the old guys pedaling as you pass them on the way up…..my only real complaints about shuttlers come from the dikhead drivers.

^^ well there's always the poop on windshield solution

anyway, sorry I cant help you with the shuttle but hopefully it works out. You can always show up at the parking lot with a few $5 bills and see if you can jump in with someone. Used to work pretty often.

I would much rather shuttle than not. For me its shuttle or hike for an hour to ride 10 minutes. Kinda a no brainer

Amen.

That said I remember running into a guy who was in his 40s on Fromme one day and while talking to him he told me that he used to pedal a 45-50lb single-pivot up Fromme back in the day and now his knees are absolutely trashed so I took that lesson to heart and try not to destroy my knees where possible.

Sounds like me and my old Bullit; but my knees and ankles are wrecked from skiing back in the leather lace up boot and cable binding days.

That is the excuse I use not to own a SS bike though.

There's some places where it works well and you get more riding done (prevost) and places where it's a waste of time.

I'm sure you're not one of the assholes (i know we've talked in the parking lot a couple times), so consider this a general PSA: Be considerate on the road at Prevost. The last year or so there have been a few people who forget there are other riders and outdoor recreation types who use that road and I've had to ditch the truck more than once to avoid the stupidity of others. slow the eff down and show some consideration. That road is getting busier and busier and with the increased traffic and the harvesting up there it wont be long until we're picking someone out of the gully or scraping someone out of a ditch using more than just 4 low.

also…who the hell shuttles Fine China @ Doumont??I've seen this in person and have seen mention of it on bookface. Seriously: I'm the oldest, slowest, skinniest-fatty, who hates climbing and the epitome of a shuttlewhore (yes - a beer for every lap and a lap for every beer!), but even I won't lower myself to such laziness.

arrrrrgh…so ranty.

With shuttling you need to figure out how many people are coming. Do you have enough vehicles to get everyone up the mountain and for retrieval. Back and forwards a billion emails. Then you load all the bikes on the truck to the top. Drive to top. Get bikes and gear off truck and get ready to ride. Ride for 10 minutes. Get bikes, people and gear into truck drive to top. Transfer bikes to other vehicle. Then drive back down.

Riding time 10 minutes, shuttling time 1 hour.

Yeah and everyone forgot to mention pedalling uphill sucks, otherwise Whistler probably wouldn't need the chairlift running. Shuttles will never die.
