I just read that thing about the demo 7 totems in mountain bike action today. Didn't know about it before, but I wonder if anyone can confirm because MBA is pretty much full of shit a lot of the time.

Atleast they dont die at whistler like the rest of the Totems.

You sure. My understadnig is the only Totem's without serious problems are the Solo Air. There are a lot of posts about coil issues…though still not as bad as the two step.

From the Specialized site:

FORK RockShox Totem Coil for Specialized, custom Black Box speed stack damper, adj comp and reb, 180mm travel, alloy 1.5" steerer, 20mm thru-axle w/ Maxle

So, no it is not a regular Totem. However, the internals cannot be Boxxer internals due to diameter. It sounds like the internals have the same (or most of the) features as the Boxxer series. They don't necessarily suck, they just aren't Mission Control equipped.

Thats sounds mostly true except for one point. My totem came stock with my demo 7 and it has mission control so Im not entirely sure its the same thing.

I'd take the Blackbox speedstack over the Mission Control personally…

Yea, I liked Motion Control with blackbox speedstack on a boxxer I rode last year. I rode it for a month.

I'd be happy with it, especially since Mission Control seems to leave a bit on the trail.

One day on Bowen and one on Whistler and the whole bike is holding up well. My only complaint is the paint chips off pretty damn easily but I loved it at whistler…it was so much fun. The Totem is still fine…knock on wood.
