Thanks

Get a Mac?

Where do you live? Would think most any glass/window shop can do what you ask - not sure about the cheap part.

Call the window manufacturers themselves. Yellow pages? The ones in surrey/richmond are probably the cheapest.

X2. A single house order shouldn't be a problem, but they may want you to have an account. They might refer you to a distributor/agent, which still might be cheaper than HD/Rona.

We used these guys about 7 years ago:
http://www.avswindows.com/

They used to be out of Coquitlam and moved to Surrey. We have had no issues with the windows. Most were simple sliders, but had the master bedroom and living room done with casement and they came out really well. We've had no issues with workmanship. If I could fault them on anything it was that it took forever for them to actually get them installed. Their manufacturing process was a lot faster than their installers could keep up with.

From a price perspective, they were good as well. A friend of mine who is a builder gave a thumbs-up on their price and quality when he saw the work completed.

No idea how they are now, but they were good back then. Maybe check a few current references.

code will be changing in oct to new standards.

current ones involve a rainscreen system invovling specialized building wrap, metal gutters and flashing that need to be applied in a specific manner. it's not rocket science, you just need to know the right steps and use the right materials.

if you're doing your whole house i'd suggest getting a permit too - nothing worse than beeing 3/4 of the way thru and having a building inspector slapping you with a stop work order and making you take them all out and start over again.

I work in the glass trade, and recommend checking out Oasis windows. They make an excellent vinyl window, with two locks, screens and apparently have a 20 year warranty which is unheard of these days (The warranty covers replacement or repair of defective material or workmanship). They're located in Surrey, 128th and 84th ave.
