My Roach Indy's suck for knee protection. I'm looking into the Hoots set up freeride knee and freeride shin.

I can get the Hoots here in the states, for 70 bucks, that's the shin's and knee's.

I called John Henry's and they have them for 79.99CD which is 58.00u.s. basically.

knee is 69.99CD is basically 50.00u.s.

big difference between 110.00 u.s. and 70.00 u.s.

now here is the difference. The ones here in the U.S. are last years model.

Shin has no velcro attachment and is the old solid black ones.

My question is are the new knee's any different from last years.

Is the shin that much nicer than last years?

Is there a better place to order the new ones from?

thanks for your help

Oldschl81 has had terrible luck with JH when ordering his Hoots gear.

I wasn't aware that this year's pads werent available in the US.

TREV might be able to tell you more about the difference between them.

All I can say is the 2002s have a manufacturing defect that makes the strap pull out. It will get warrentied for sure, but it's bound to happen and will be annoying.

I can't find them anywhere

Quality Bike Parts shows '02's. Universalcycles.com has the '02's also.

if someone knows where the '03's are in the U.S. let me know.

the help is much appreciated. My knees don't like the Indy's

dont waste your time with the old ones
that velcro strap is essential its what makes the pads from sliding down

why not buy the race legs and the knee pads ?

i ride for hoots and that is what i run ..

What's this talk about velcro attatchemetns? My 2002 shins have two velcro straps each and a thing to connect the knee pad to.

QBP has the 02 pictures, but the 03 pads. It's like that for the Roach pads too. The pictures are of the 02's but the pads are the 03's. When they printed the 03 book, they didn't have a picture of the pads, so they used the 02 pads.

why'd you recommend the race leg over the freeride knee and shin? just curious?

becuase u don't need a little velcro peice

i have both… both work well…

i personaly like the knee by themselves for freeriding and street…

but for dj and dh the race legs r lighter and more manuverable…

but they r not as good protective wise, the race legs r more to stop scrapes and bumps… the knee shin combo provides prote ction against anything.the knee and shin combo r indistructable

I got some 661 Race's a whole lot like the Hoots race but I could never keep them up they always slid down. I'm hopin to get rid of some of that as well with the seperate set up.

thanks for the help. If I can get my shit together I'll be up real soon. I'll be in the deep cove area, I'll be sure to say what's up if I see you out and about on your bicycles.

thanks guys
