All I want is to do is go on a website, find what I need, confirm price, ship/pickup and lead time and order it, all without wasting any time on phone calls with people that don't know what they are talking about or are going to lie to me because they don't actually know.

100% agree.

La Bicycletta seems to have put their inventory online. Was able to order some replacement brake pads for my gravel bike sent to me via Cdn Post (there was an option to save 13$ and go pick up at store).

More bike shops should be doing this. I don't want to drive down to a store for stuff like wear and tear replacement parts like brake pads, cables, housing, derailleur jockey wheels etc...

Yeah, I just found that out as I was looking for a Rockshox digital shock pump 2 weeks ago; bought it from them because they had it available online!  Simple, quick, easy...local pick up in West Van so no shipping.  Will look at what they have online further.

Careful. My first order with them was great, they had what I needed in stock and shipping was reasonable and quick. Second time I ordered some shimano parts, the lead time was supposed to be 7-10 days. After 36 days I cancelled my order. Customer service never reached out to me once to let me know what the delay was.

This was in July/Aug this year

Good to know.  I only order if the site says 'in stock', none of this 'special order - should be 7-10 days nonsense'.

Wife just destroyed her Rear D.  Trying an order from https://www.thebikeshop.com/ as 1> they had the exact replacement i wanted 2> looks like they have three physical locations 3> it was an 'in stock' item.  Will see how that experiment goes.

Re: XO Sauce

I’ve found it at Osaka market in Park Royal.  I think there were two or three brands, but I have no idea which is best.

Most definitely some sort of cetacean vertebrae. Banana for scale, and let me tell you, hiking that back to the truck sucked the entire time.

All pics except the Ship I work on, and the waterfall/landslide fall are north of Hwy 4.
I rarely ever venture further south than Port Alberni, there's just one lake I visit and maybe Carmanah but that's it.

good luck finding uncrowded hiking. its getting stupider and stupider.

I thought the beach photo of the whale vert was cool... but the fact that you lugged it back to a truck is epic.

Re: 2020s Half Over - What else is next?

The EBOLA epidemic quietly hits it's first trillion infection milestone.  Mainstream media continues to ignore it.

What were you right about with the ebola thread? First you speculated that it may not be ebola, then it was a bunch of other stuff, then it was that that trillions would be infected.

I'm still waiting for the math on that.

So the what if there is what if Brooks goes on the run and gets into greater levels of criminal activity to survive? The story has to stop somewhere and I don't know if we can say it would end in a peaceful outcome like you suggest.

What if he goes home and passes out on his couch?

Re: The Riots of 2020

Maybe if the cops stopped closing ranks and flat out lying about police incidents they'd have some credibility... like the 75 year old man that was shoved, and fractured his skull as a result. Buffalo police statement on that when they didn't realize there was footage was:

"During that skirmish involving protestors, one person was injured when he tripped & fell."

Also - this thread title is ignorant.

But maybe nobody is capable? Look at the last two pages. We have one guy talking about owning apostrophe's. Other's trying to help improve another user's understanding of how shitty Counterpunch is and also how wrong that user generally is because he based his posts and facts on Op Ed's. And I'm left wondering where the fuck the police talk is. Seriously who gives a shit about apostrophe's and echo chambers? Tell me how CHOP, formerly the CHAZ is allowed to happen, if you think so. Since no one cares, tell me what CounterPunch thinks about the autonomous zones and re-appropriation of land - is it ok because its "stolen" from whitey and is in the best interest of spreading Communism? Is it not bad at all?

This guy complaining about the quality of dialog in this forum just broke my irony meter.  LOL

Re: Hambini on bottom brackets.

Hambini is merciless (and I'm a fan - lol). He got into it with some wheel company about aerodynamic claims they were making about their wheels - full streisand effect. Worth finding those forum threads if you're bored, it's epic.

Re: North Shore Trail Riding Etiquette and Behavior in a Global Pandemic

Original Fromme RPO was put in because some Mountain Bikers were acting like assholes.  It was also an increasingly small number of spots (less streets) and a growing user base.  Some evenings and weekends it was a real shit show up there and the residents (understandably) complained.

Now the latest Covid restrictions are to try and thin the surge of crowds all trying to access the same trail access points.  Before they were put in (at least what I witnessed at Hyannis trail entrances) there were incredibly busy chokepoints making physical distancing near impossible.  Add to that some of the same bad behavior witnessed when the Fromme RPO happened and it wasn't a great scene.

Seems like the parking restrictions have been fairly effective so far, chokepoints are better.  Crowding seems better as people have figured out to ride their bikes in from a few blocks away.  Not seeing much bad behavior (Bros with lawnchair beers seem to have figured out to go away first).  Until we have a vaccine for Covid, this is the new normal so get used to it.
