Agreed.  I have an old XTR group from a Mountain Cycle Moho I am rebuilding.  The chainrings are shot, can't find replacements.  But man, something about that finish just speaks to the kid in me that used to drool over XTR in the old bike magazines.

I have a Manitou Sherman slider I am in the process of rebuilding, that's going on my Xtracycle if I can get it to stop leaking.  It has been pretty bombproof otherwise.

An old '08 66 that has been on too many bikes to count.  Pretty sure the bushings are kaput so it needs to be retired.

I love bringing old parts back to life, it can be fun.  And boy is it a wakeup call when I get on my newer bikes and realize just how terrible some of those old parts were.

We have been seeing this cropping up on our local trails here in AZ recently.  Shortcuts to bypass the original technical bits.  I even had to call out a guy who rode over the brush and deadfall we had used to block a shortcut.  

In regards to the article, I love tech trails as much as anyone, but why mess with an established trail?  Just leave it alone, aside from maintenance/cleanup.  If the trail isn't hard enough for you, go find something else to ride.

Pretty sure that A2 version is going to be my next bike. Ticks all of the boxes for me!

I guess I fit into that category?  Young-ish and relatively fit.  

I dig difficult climbs on my regular bike, I ride a Yeti SB5c most days and love logging big miles on it.  But I also love my eBike.  Not sure what my point is.  I just like bikes.  And I feel that eBikes fit into that world.  

Like I said before, I can see why people are concerned that they could open a lot of previous unaccessible trails to more riders.  I'm not really sure what can be done about it.  It is kind of like the side by sides (Razrs) that are now dominating OHV trails.  As long as people are willing to spend the money, they will be out there.  I guess the industry should have tried to be a bit more proactive about this whole thing, but they weren't.  Not sure how to put the cork back in the bottle now.  

Just like on my regular bike, I just try to be a good ambassador and try to have positive trail interactions.  And I don't ride my eBike where I know it is not allowed (Sedona for example).

"Do more" for means I can ride from home to the trailhead (10 miles), do a decent sized loop with lots of climbing and then ride home. No need to load up the truck. I have done this on my regular bike but it takes me a lot longer. I simply don't have the time now. 

I like my ebike but I also love my regular bikes.  I totally get the arguments against them and I could blather on about how I try my hardest to be a good ambassador on the trails, but I am just one rider. 

Btw I live in the States in AZ. And I'm riding a Haibike Xduro Nduro (yup). 56 lbs I believe but I don't really notice it on the trail.

I really dig this bike. I love wacky out of the box designs.  If I had the money I would grab one no question. 

Regarding Trust...I have a Shout, 2 actually. Picked them up right when they went under. There is a company that does servicing in UT still. But if you damage one, you're SOL. Figure with 2 I can cannabilize one to keep the other working. 

That said, I really like the Shout. Definitely a whole different feel from my regular forks. I wouldn't say better overall, but it does excel in some areas. You can monster truck straight through gnar with it. And it tracks very well through turns. Hard to get it to pop like a regular fork, so bunnyhopping and lofting the front wheel take extra effort. 

I would imagine this would be similar in some ways.  I think, like the Trust forks, it would require way more fiddling to get it set up right than a more traditional frame/fork.

A coworker and I just had a similar conversation at work. It does seem like there are a lot of euphemisms and slang in our language that could be considered offensive. I doubt most people realize the impact that can make. 

On the other hand, I had another coworker double down and echo many of the comments in the Pinkbike article when he was informed that some of his comments were racist. 

There is a very strange dynamic in the US right now.

And you just know Trump will be fanning the flames with his tiny hands straight through to January and then after that on Trump TV which will make Fox News look like Scientific American.  After what almost happened to the governor of Michigan there is no reason to believe there are not 100 more plots in the works.  I hope it won't come to that either, but the wind is blowing that way.  

Where are you located?

Arizona. This state is actually shifting blue for the first time in the 20 years I have lived here. 

Still quite a few Trump 2020 flags flying around. I find that concerning.

Chup's prediction (I know I said I wouldn't)

- Biden wins 353-185
- Trump will whine that is was rigged but he will leave with his tail between his legs after wrecking all he can before January and leave Biden nothing for transition
- Trump will be indicted on charges of money laundering and fraud by the end of 2021 (in real court, not talk radio)
- After the devastating loss Republicans will all say they always knew Trump was a crook.
- Ring wing nationalists will take to terrorism across the country after his loss is official

Speaking from down in the States, this is a real concern.  I am hoping it doesn't happen, but I have a bad feeling about the end of this year.

If it was me I'd contact One Up and just let them know about the situation without making any requests. I've managed quality systems and getting feedback like this can be helpful preventing a lot of issues. Additionally they may just replace the post and if they don't you have a record in their system of the issue should it lead to a more serious problem you want some help with later.

This 100%. Just mentioning stuff like this to a company without making any demands or requests can go far. I've had companies warranty/replace stuff without asking. It is possible it was an oversight during manufacturing and they may not be aware of it.

My commuter (right now). Rebuilt my Xtracycle with with a Mongoose NX 7.1 from Craigslist. Loving it! Way better than the Cannondale CAAD 3 I was using with it before.

I'm seriously have seen ebikers climbing on tech trails and wide roads they both seem to be motoring along just fine.

I've also witnessed a couple who were easily over 65 blast up the last section of the climb on BLT before you hit the road at the switchback (pretty steep if you know it). They both laughed out loud (not out of breath at all) and then turned around and headed back the way they came.

Don't tell me they are hard work :)

And I'm not even against ebikers but you can wait on a tech climb for a good place to pass while I cough up a lung.

I 100% agree. That's why I always wait. I'm not in any hurry and its not like there is a medal waiting at the top! 

I should have been more clear about technical climbing. I'm far less gassed, but I just meant that I clean more first pass on my regular bike than my eBike.

For me, it depends on the climb. Smooth and straight climb you typically just grind up on a normal bike? Easy day on the eBike. 

Slow technical climbs are actually more difficult on my ebike. It weighs 56 lbs and the Bosch motor has a lag in it...takes a pedal stroke to kick in. I tend to use a lot of pedal kicks to get up ledges and techy bits. Its tough to get the timing right. And...it takes a lot more body English to manuever a bike that heavy up a tech climb.  I can actually climb technical trails easier on my regular bike. 

I get what you're saying though. Lots of riders around here seem to ride them on mellower trails which baffles me. Its not much fun. I love climbing ridiculous stuff with it.

So I ride an eBike and a regular bike. 

Regardless of which one I am on, I always stop and wait for people to clear a section. Especially on the eBike since as someone said earlier, I have a motor to get going again. 

Is this really such a difficult thing to do? Full disclosure, I am in the USA. 

Its just too bad that people are being so selfish.
