That was my other thought: I don't carry a cassette lock ring took with me on rides. 

So I'd have no way to tighten up a headset unless they have (and they probably have?) done something clever.

Also what I assumed. But @andrew makes some good points, it would certainly make non-shop installation a challenge too. No way I'd trust the average consumer to thread the steerer on their bazillion dollar fork.

Something else to consider, that Dave didn't really have to. Yes, you CAN run a roof top tent on a full canopy (see above). But as with much of the above in the article, do your research. Not all canopies are created equal, and not all will support a tent, especially once you're in it. Admittedly its static load at that point, but with tent, two people, and a 55lb dog, that's a lot of weight on a cap.

Sad update from OWL Rescue: 

"They said that the bones in its wing were dead beyond repair, on top of existing infections, severe starvation and dehydration. They figured it may have been on the ground and wounded for days before we found it so while it was knocked out for surgery they made the call for its comfort." 

Nature is real AF.

I helped capture and extricated the aforementioned stricken eagle from the mountain.
