OWN FR-01 Shoe Review - Feb. 2, 2017, 8:25 a.m.

Nice work on this Pete. A few questions/comments:

1. How stiff are these compared to, say, a Five Ten Freerider Contact? They look not so stiff, but appearances can be deceiving. I've been riding a lot of flat pedals over the past year and still come back to stiffness as a make- or-break trait.

2. Drying time measured in days rather than hours, so true. The two-piece aspect of these shoes hits on a requirement I have of my ski gloves, which is a removable liner. We bought a boot dryer this year, though, because even the thinnest of shoes that go out in a coastal forest in winter or bike commute to work in wet weather may not dry by the next time you want to wear them.

3. You're tying your shoes wrong. At least in the product photos. I don't doubt you may do it right when the shoe's on your foot, but I didn't until I watched this video, and it changed my life.

You Should Ride a Rigid Fork - Feb. 2, 2017, 7:54 a.m.

I rode my steel rigid bike on the North Shore with the seat all the way up yesterday, and had a blast. Cleaned all the climbs, got bucked on a few descents, laughed just as much if not more than usual. It's all about the attitude!

The 483mm fork on the Krampus is a decent swap for a 100mm fork. I feel like the one you put on was longer, wasn't it a 120 or 130 from a Sherpa?

Save Your Hands? Spank Vibrocore Bars - Jan. 30, 2017, 10:37 a.m.

Andrew, next week at coffee, give Stephanie's carbon Jones a go. You'll be amazed how much compliance they've built into it. I was so impressed with hers that I ordered one for myself as well, which will be on the Unit soon.

Wolftooth GnarWolf Chainguide Review - Jan. 11, 2017, 6:27 a.m.

You can put your own chamfer into the end of the grip with a sharp pair of scissors. We cut down one of the pairs of ESI grips that we have for Jones bars and did just that. Result was indistinguishable from factory.

Dear Santa – Cam’s List - Dec. 21, 2016, 8:40 p.m.

Wald makes stainless baskets in black or silver, in the US, for not very much money. The 137 is the smaller one and the 139 is the bigger one. They're best attached to some kind of front rack for sturdiness rather than using the struts down to the axle. That attaching can be done with zip ties! I have a Nitto Campee 32f on my bike but there are various options out there depending on your bike's eyelets (or lack thereof).

Skip the panniers and get a basket!

Coastal Crew on E-Bikes - Dec. 15, 2016, 9:34 p.m.

Except, of course, that the video didn't start with a pickup truck rumbling up a logging road…

5 MTB Gifts for Less Than a C-note - Dec. 1, 2016, 9:26 a.m.

I commend you for your commuting efforts, but I still think you need a different tire. Jan Heine may disagree.

5 MTB Gifts for Less Than a C-note - Nov. 30, 2016, 7:55 p.m.

Forget all this stuff about how you're inflating them… you need a new tire if you've flatted that many times in that little time!

Are you accepting new patients? I'd certainly rather fund your Eagle vs Di2 experiments than my current guy's jet-setting lifestyle…
