I don't understand why so many companies fail to at least compete with five tens stickyness? Certainly it can't be Voodoo? I mean michelin's been making rubber compounds for almost a hundred years and they can't come up with something that still sticks in the wet? Vibram soles are at least as bad imo. Crazy.
Each to there own, but I'd totally recommend it as a one off if you can get dropped at the top. As someone else mentioned, different doesn't have to be bad. Techy and pedally in parts for the first half, then just mellow single track on the lower sections. For sure avoid prime hiker times, and you're not gonna be Strava racing it if that's your gig. The bridge crossings do suck as well, mandatory dismount, but it'd be dumb not to check it out for yourself if you're in the area and have the time imo.
Unfortunately one up doesn't do a swing away. I have the Rocky Mount swing away and am pretty pleased with it. A couple things that I'd change, but that's the story with anything generally. It's only ~$50+ iirc. There's a retailer in Calgary that i got it from late fall for I think 650-700 Can all in , including shipped to BC.
I get that they're showcasing the gimbal and it's for sure a rowdy trail that he rides with style, but the fact that it's not in real time is disappoint.
jeebus. what a donkey circus… i lol'd.
Yes! Well written Lacy. Went into the darkness a few years back and wish i had done so sooner. I am glad it's still not overly popular, nothing like feeling it's just you and the mountain. Now if only the damn snow was more rideable in these parts.
Damn, both these things are now on my drool list.
videos not working for me?
That's a great point about getting passed. While I'm a regular rider, who outside of a handfull of park days, "earns my turns", I'm sadly far from the highly athletic sort. I hold my own, but on a busy climbing trail, I may on occasion get passed by one or two younger and more ambitious sorts. This is never great for the ego, but i respect the fitness and am more driven for it. If there comes a point where I'm having to stop multiple times during a climb to allow "cheaters" to pass me i can't say i'll be thrilled about it. The one and only time I've seen an E-bike on the trails was under this exact circumstance.
I only got about a minute in before the gray matter atrophy made me shut it off.
I'm not from the OHV/moto crowd, but as far as i understand it they are supposed to be registered/licensed now no?
Funnel Vision? Funnel of Love?
I am a man child, and i approve of this massage.
Sam Pilgrim races urban DH? Is this just paying sponsor dues or is he getting kicks?
So these mountain bike specific shoes are totally great!… off the mountain bike… Lol. I had the same experience with the AM 45's on flats. Total shite. Get them cold and wet on less than super grippy pedals and you might as well be wearing ice skates. Not sure what is going on at Shimano R&D or how a "Vibram" sole is supposed to be a selling point. I'm pretty sure any of my street shoes would be grippier.
