Thanks @Endur-Bro !  Swapping components has been great.  It's an easy swap between North Shore trail riding mode and bikepacking mode.

John Utah, what gloves exactly are you referring to from Marks? You've got me curious about them, I need a new pair and I like the sounds of what you've described!

the new trail is fun and you can really rip down it, but I did enjoy the old tech line too.

@briansavery:disqus, I hear you about the clearance issues for water bottles and 'gear'. I really think the manufacturers try to make their bikes look good. Not many go for the utilitarian look which would suite a smaller marker of bikepackers. I'm curious about your frame bag though, what make or who made it?

The girlfriend riding to skookumchuck hotsprings with some homemade gear (dry bags themselves from mec, attachment points and frame bag sewn). Approximately 45-50L capacity. Did us well on the trip and not too heavy.

Post some more pictures of the bags, I'm curious how you made the attachments.

Great review, i've been eyeing these up and will likely purchase these when my Specialized XC shoes give way!
Curious if the boa adjuster might snag on trail obstacles, or is it tucked in just enough? my XC shoes have the buckle and it takes a beating but has hung in there.
Also, does the cleat stick out so much to cause the grinding on pavement, or is the sole stick out just enough to not cause that?

back to the book… i saw it at Cove last weekend, looks amazing. Spent all my money on a new wheel so i couldn't grab the book, next time for sure though.

I tried really hard to make it out for the last trail day but couldn't, i'll try again for the next one for sure.
Regardless, you guys did an awesome job!

I rode it last weekend, and i honestly liked the older first couple hundred meters. it's the mid section with all the woodwork that needs some help, nothing else. it's the one trail up there that is still 'rustic'
oh well, probably better the new way, but i like the old better!
