Not only compliant workers, but people who are too busy and tired to pay much attention to politics. They spend their time working and worrying, maybe more than one job. No time to care. Voting? What's that?

He believes he was fired because he categorically refused to exclude land from the ALR. You can see from the report that he approved no applications on the South Coast.

Of course you are. This is not a race issue, and I get it that you're probably being facetious, but this is the exact attitude of fear that has allowed this problem to get so bad. I'm white (ya, I said it) but that does not automatically make me racist.

If I can't stand up for my country, for the things I hold dear, and for whatever passes for our Canadian culture, that's a pretty sadstate of affairs. I don't care who is turning our farmland into hotels for their rich buddies, it has to stop. Once the soil is removed or destroyed, there's no getting it back.

I also don't care who is evading taxes and claiming shit they aren't entitled to, on our tax dollars. That needs to stop as well. They are bankrupting our nation in order to enrich themselves and the BC and Fed. Liberals.

Completely infuriating. Everyone should be up in arms about this. It's an immediate threat to our food security, never even mind the shifty tax evasion going on!

Many Canadians didn't like the socialization of the risks taken by those who will no longer meet the stress tests. So pain for those risk takers, but they're not the masses who re-elect governments. If lots of condo projects don't get built b/c foreign buyers bail for another jurisdiction, the fall-out to watch for is the trades job losses. BC's economy is hinged on the business of building and selling housing, and we're the #1 provincial economy right now. How scary is that?

Pretty scary over-all, and especially scary since I work in residential/commercial construction.
Even though I might lose my job because of this real estate debacle, I'm still rooting for this change though. It's overdue.

So Feds just tossed the principal residence exemption for non-residents. … What will this do for transactions in process?

More interesting than that will be what happens with the new mortgage regulations. People put downpayments on pre-sale condos based on pre-approval at today's stress testing, which is based on the lowest lending rate. Meanwhile, when their closing date comes, they will have to requalify at the new regulation, which is based on the 5 year rates. They may not qualify, if they originally maxed out, or what if the condo drops in value between now and closing?

Interesting times ahead for sure.

the author has been part of the system that allowed this debacle to unfold so i don't think he in the position now to be placing blame on governments.

True, he was part of Gordo's gongshow, but that doesn't necssarily mean he was supportive of the sell-out of our province at that time, and he clearly is not at this time. You could say the same of anybody who becomes disenchanted with a system, or who finally sees things for what they really are. His past employment does in no way diminish what he has to say now.

I used to work in a slaughterhouse that directly supportd the mistreatment of animals on a grand scale. Having experienced that first-hand, I now have my own chickens to produce the eggs I consume and I do my utmost to source my proteins from nonfactory sources that considers the animals' welfare.

Should I not be allowed to rally against animal abuses in factory farming because at one time I was part of that system?
