I take my own vacation away from it all around my birthday every year and it involves nothing but me, my bike and exploring new trails and areas. 

It started when I turned 40, I went up to the North Shore and discovered  how much I suck at mountain biking.  It's driven me to get better, even at 43 now.  I met great people, had good food and drinks. last year it was Nelson, same. Maybe next year Kelowna/Penticton.  It's not just about the riding. It's making friends, experiencing new things. (trails) : )

LOL..I"m the same way. I cannot get on a trainer anymore. I'll find something to do, run, swim, shovel snow…ANYTHING.

Growing up riding in mud…yes, disk brakes were the biggest game changer.
2nd place- coming from an XC background and riding more DH now..the dropper post is definitely nice!

I really enjoyed the 'going down with the ship' crash.

Little dusty in here… just donated for Sean. It's amazing to see how important MTB is in our lives. Enjoy every ride.

To me there is nothing more mtb than being one of those awesome guys/gals that will invite an out of towner to enjoy one of the local fav's. To me this represents everything good about humanity, mountain biking and the love of getting out and doing stuff outdoors.

Where is the 0 mph crash? Where you try to start from a stand still, hit a rock with your front tire and it stops you dead in your tracks. Usually results in banged knee or damaged genitals.

One of the coolest (and scariest) things I've ever seen was just after starting a climb and seeing a deer cross the road. About 10-15 seconds later a huge mountain lion slithered out all in stalk mode. The thing paused, looked at me then slowly tracked behind the deer on it's path.
I promptly turned around and made a sprint back to my car.
didn't want to get between a lion and its meal.

Great riding in Winthrop. Used to drive up from Coeur d' Alene all the time to race up there. Great memories. Almost ran into a cow on the trail once. : )

North Shore is still 26er only… sorry.

LOL, I have my Anthem 26 is in the shop….trying out the circus wheels for the 1st time. : )

Hello fellow mtb'ers.

I decided to turn 40 by riding what appears to be the best of the best trails on earth.

staying in north shore/lonesdale. Wondering if anyone is up for a ride. Looking for free flowing, technical stuff. Don't mind climbing hours for a good downhill or 2. Beers would be on me. :)

I am wondering how trail conditions are, Seymour, grouse, fromme and even over on the island. Duncan/mt. Tzaohalem.

Hi everyone! Yes, the big 40 is coming up in May.
I've had all kinds of ideas on what to do but what keeps making it to the top of the list is mountain biking. And 1st place that comes to mind is BC.
I've only been to Vancouver once and loved the city. I'd love to make it up there and welcome 40 with some amazing singletrack.
I have no idea on where to ride, trails etc… I'm looking for any help so I can still get out there and feel young..even at 40. : )
Even better, a local ride or chill group ride to join.
I still race and have been riding for 21 years now.
Any info etc… would be much appreciated.
