Dear Fromme Parking Lot Lady Who Needed Help With a Flat...

who takes a tire completely off the rim to change a tube?

They already had it completely off by the time we got there. Donno the story of how it got flat.

The sport already doesn't have enough women, and they were out there getting after it, props to them. So no condescending is needed.
They had all the bits [HTML_REMOVED] tools needed to fix it, they just needed a bit of help in the order of installation on their first try, be nice.

Dear Fromme Parking Lot Lady Who Needed Help With a Flat...

I helped you install a tube in your flat (and formerly tubeless) rear tire, in the Fromme parking lot, on Thu Aug 11 around 5:30pm.

On the off chance that you (or someone you know) sees this… I was a little worried about losing the daylight so I slapped that tire back together in a hurry. About 20min after leaving the parking lot I realized:

1) I did not check the rotational direction of the tire before installing it. There is a 50% chance it is on backwards, you should check that.

Sorry!

Whistler 2015 Trail Conditions - not in the bike park

Hi.
For some reason, I've got my sites set on riding Upper Babylon [HTML_REMOVED] Babylon by Bike this coming summer. But I saw one website mention that they were a bit neglected. And another website mentioned that some of the woodwork on Upper Babylon was sliding down a cliff. While a couple other places don't mention any issues with the trails at all.

I realize they will be covered in snow right now… but what were these trails like in the summer time? Still rideable?
Or not worth the day trip up from Vancouver to go see?

Thanks

Fromme 2014 Conditions

Snow starts on the road around 1st / 2nd switchback.
And it starts building up in the forest around 3rd / 4th switchback.

Leppard was completely snow covered.
Crinkum / Kirkford had snowy spots but were rideable if you're brave.

Fromme 2014 Conditions

Tuesday Nov 11: Blowdown on Ladies, four places.

Third is the big one, covering the A-frame at the start of the uphill section leading to the Big Stupid split. This one needs a saw to clear.

This one is a major pain to get around/over because it fell along the direction of the trail, so you have to climb over all it's branches. From what I could see, it looked like the A-Frame survived underneath it though.

Last one is just after the Big Stupid sign. Branches are cleared, but the trunk was too big for me to lift. Its also about 8 inches in diameter.

I was able to lift this one up and over the stump on the right of the trail tonight. It's still sticking up a bit but is out of the way.

Rode Pipeline on Thursday evening.

As Kever said, the road is still ride-able until just below Ladies. We had to push up through the snow for maybe 200m. The trail itself is fine aside from a couple tense slushy parts for the first 2 or 3 minutes.

Jumper Cables - Old Buck Parking Lot

To the random stranger in the Old Buck parking lot around noon on Sat Nov 23rd (driving a nice Jeep Cherokee) who had jumper cables and boosted my friends car after the lights were left on all morning: You freaking rock, sir!

Thank you.

Forever After-Voluntary Closure

either here on nsmb (shore or trail maintenance forums) or on the nsmba's website under trails:

http://nsmba.ca/trails

I've been riding all summer and I honestly didn't know the nsmb forums existed until this past Monday. I wasn't sure how often/reliably trail closure notices like this are posted here. I guess I will have to add this to my list of forums to check regularly.

And I often checked the NSMBA main page, but they don't seem to post much minor news there. And unfortunately the "trails" section just links to the TrailForks website info which is pretty hit or miss at the moment (I.e. this Forever After closure was not updated on TrailForks as far as I can tell).

The NSMBA Facebook page is actually a really good place to get recent updates.

This was a bit of a hand on forehead moment for me. I get almost all my ski resort info from the resort's Facebook pages… but I never thought to check and see if the NSMBA had a Facebook page. I've "liked" it now, so can keep an eye on it.

fair question. slow down and read the signs?

I did word my question stupidly. What I am really looking for is a reliable place to find out about trail closures before I leave my apartment in the morning. So I do not plan a bike ride [HTML_REMOVED] invite everyone out only to find the "objective" trail is closed (it's a problem if the blue trail is closed and not everyone that was invited can switch to a black trail next door, etc.)

Although I'll admit I have a bad habit of not reading the signs at night, especially if I'm the last in the group to arrive and we're all heading out. I had read your suggestion this morning, so I made a point of stopping to read the Fromme board tonight on my way past.

Thanks all for the suggestions (and the kitty pictures). I had hoped there would be one easy place to find all the info all the time, but I guess I'll keep an eye on the above places.

Forever After-Voluntary Closure

Question:
How would a person reliably find out about trail closures such as this in the future? Before they are standing at the trail entrance looking at the closed sign?

I used to use TrailForks to figure out which trails were "wet weather approved", etc., but TrailForks seems to be a broken shell of its former self these days. And the only information I can find on there about Forever After right now shows it as "Green/All Clear".

Thanks.
