There are good shops on the shore for sure. A part of the problem is the guys that are qualified to sell our high end bikes are few and far between. Or, don't get your team guys selling bikes, get guys that are passionate about sales selling them. Year over year I have been frustrated with 'the bike shop'. I have a long list of WTF moments dating back to the early 2000's. So many people I ride with also share the same sentiment and have stories of frustration. e-commerce is a threat, so the shop will have to get creative with its business model to grow profits. Also, MEC is a competitive threat as their offerings are growing and you cant beat their warranty policy which draws a lot of people in.

Not sure the shore sees 500 a day per mountain either. Maybe 500 a day on Seymour over the weekend……

Sorry guys if I was being a cock. I feel like this article has been presented a few times already. The only reason I know that is because I have been a regular to NSMB since 03. I feel like the site grows to be more cliquish than objective over time. I have recently heard random negative public feedback about the site. I personally have enjoyed the site over the years and thank you for all you guys have done. The site has been core to the niche, and an important aspect to mountain biking evolution. Its just that I find myself coming back less and less. Something about the 'feel'. Sorry if I'm passive aggressive here…..I suppose I just care.

i had the same issue.  Taped large washers to the rack to shim it out.  Problem solved.

Really sad story.   Warm wishes for a speedy recovery.  Luckily he had comrades to support him.    

I ride alone quite often.   Sometimes at night.   A sobering reminder that shit happens.   I carry an emergency beacon with me as sometimes im out of cell coverage.   Its a little bit of insurance but obviously its not 100% fail safe.   

Maybe a good lesson too is to make sure someone always knows where you are going and your ETA for return.

whats interesting is a little bit of trail usage history in towns like squamish. the trail networks were built by trials moto riders before MTB was a thing. whats ironic and counter intuitive is that these 300cc machines do less damage to the trails than skinny, skidding MTB tires. a 4" tire at 3PSI helps. and it was an issue and concern when MTB guys starting coming in using the trails. over time, people have learned to get alone and dual usage the norm.

where i live, the trials guys do all the maintenance, and the MTB guys none. being scared of these little pedal-electrics seems way blown out of proportion from a community that is still warm from the wheel size debate.

i made the mistake of testing an eBike.   Never had so much fun on a bike.  Sold my DH and AM bikes and have a down payment on a 2019 assisted bike.     I wouldnt have gotten one if i lived on the shore as i anger easily and would want to avoid conflict.   

I live in an area in which trail access is logging road but really steep and relentless.   I maintain the trails during the winter along with other locals,  via trails moto.   The network,  much like most of squamish was built by the trials moto community,  but we have found ways to share and get along.

I wonder if eMTBs will find their place.

I don't think the horse would be too concerned about the rider around them. These are WILD horses, tough as nails and probably not having a propensity for anxiety when charging in a pack.

What's WAY worse is petting turtles or dolphins and activities like that. OR, dressing your cat in outfits because it looks cute.

These activities are more likely to cause emotional stress than the example cited here IMO.

Anyone else have experience with the hr2 wearing fast? I think mine lasted 3 months. Trying Hans dampf \rock razr combo next. Magic Mary was good in the front but little loose on the hard pack and pretty slow rolling for all around conditions.

Those little nobs don't have any neighbours to support them, so yeah they don't last long.
