Although I don't frequent the shore that much anymore. I had the pleasure over the weekend to participate in the TAP trail work day on Dale's. Thanks to NSMB, TAP, Ryders and Muddhonnies - you have a great thing going keep it up.

My 2 cents on the previous discussion:

I thoroughly enjoyed riding Dale's and Forever After. I thought the bypass has merit and certainly increased the flow. In my case, the route is all ridable with the exception of the "Rock Face" and i think it is safer to ride the bypass than walk down the face. I am sensitive to retaining the character of older trails, but lets face it all trails are in a constant state of change - I like the option of having the bypass available. I don't think it is necessary to dumb down all of Dale's significantly, just because an easier trail has been built below it. Personally, I enjoyed the change of pace during a ride - but since i don't shuttle up - the whole ride is a change of pace.

Good you liked it. Too bad the NSMBA doesn't care about the opinions of earlier builders as your thoughts are worthwhile.

Rode Dales tonight for the first time in a while… on my way down I was thinking I wish they would build a ride around for that steep rock chute part of the trail… so I get down to that section and to my surprise, I see a re-route has been built but there is also a sign there saying something along the lines of 'unauthorized trail building will be decommissioned' - what is the story here? The new piece of trail actually seemed to be pretty solid and I think a re-route of this section is a no-brainer seeing that Dales is pretty much the only way (or the most logical way) to get to Forever After, which is a blue xc type trail and that section of Dales would have to be considered double black.

Long term goal is 6th.

Currently it's to the high point on the BP just west of Boundary.

With the Skid Road Reroute it will make a great bonus 1/2 lap. Once you ride down something like Expresso or LOC to the BP you can continue down DB a bit then climb back up to the BP and then add Lower Dreamweaver onto a ride.

This is not a climbing trail to the 6th and people should stop calling it that on the internet.
It is a small reroute of the old Skid Rd which is an eroded old skidder that some people used to get to the BP. It will now give climbable access to the BP.
For anyone who wants to know the future of trails, join us at the Town Hall meeting May 13.

The position you have taken on this is confusing to say the least Allan. Mostly because of the fact that after our first attempt at revising the structures on NNL to make peace at your request, you commended us and left beers on the trails for us, possibly you even deposited beverages after the second attempt we made but I cannot fully recall, pretty sure you did! After the fact you hang us out to dry! Why the hell would we have spent days on the hill in the rain to modify stunts if removal had been the initial request? As all trails will sooner or later be found, so will the truth. In the very beginning you gave me hope, your actions since then have completely destroyed that.
NNL was never a permanent plan, we never expected it to last forever, we put together the most fun we could think of and planned to just ride it until the development took over. Never planned to fight with anyone about what should be done with their land or making that trail permanent. We told you that during the first conversed we ever had about it. I really loved that trail and even more the smiles I saw on every person I encountered on it. But it was "Never Never" intended to last forever! The fact that you have waffled into such a disappointment over this is a bummer, but at least now we know. You are not the only disappointment on here in my eyes. I'm sure your convos state the same of me as well so at least we are on par. And you don't have to worry about having anything to do with the reincarnation!;-)

That POS trail was crap.

Further 1994 the NSMBA challenge is limited by the fact that they are a Registered Not For Profit Charity that is limited in their ability to act in Cypress due to this:

A charity also has to meet a public benefit test. To qualify under this test, an organization must show that:

1- its activities and purposes provide a tangible benefit to the public
those people who are eligible for benefits are either the public as a whole, or a significant section of it,
2- in that they are not a restricted group or one where members share a private connection, such as social clubs or professional associations with specific membership
3- the charity's activities must be legal and must not be contrary to public policy

The key point is 3! the trails are technically illegal so right now, the NSMBA cannot act.

Cypress trails are just as "illegal" as the trails on Seymour and Fromme.

This is the legacy that fell into our lap.

Sure they have the right. They have consulted the public and are now making moves…did they listen? Was it just a front? Changes haven't been communicated to us yet. Yet it appears things are happening. I'm also hearing rumours of trails beyond what BPP originally designated as their land being impacted.

Sadly, Cypress riders and tourists coming to ride some of the best trails in the world will be impacted.

BPP tearing stuff down?!! This is and should be a major concern to all involved with mountain biking on the North Shore.

Seems like the NSMBA is pushing for a parking lot up there lets destroy the forest and some trails so people don't have to walk 10 minutes =/=/=/=/=/=/=/=/=/

The North Shore Mountain Biking Association asked North Vancouver district council on Monday night to ease parking restrictions at the base of Mount Fromme and perhaps throw in a heated change room.

NSMBA program manager Mark Wood said one of the challenges facing the local mountain biking community in recent years is limited parking and access to Fromme.

In 2003, council approved residents-only parking above Coleman Street to curtail traffic congestion in the area.

“Today, there has been over a decade of prohibition creating a state in which there is private access to what is a public resource,” Wood told council.

He said the solution is to bring in staging and parking facilities along with corresponding trail access in the upper Mountain Highway area.

“We look forward in 2014 to working with council and staff to come to a solution, whatever that may be,” said Wood.

NSMBA president Mathew Bond said the current parking restrictions discourage novice riders because of the added uphill commute to the trails. It’s approximately a 10-minute walk up Mountain Highway from Coleman Street to the base of Bobsled, a beginner trail.
