Has anyone ever seen the sliced nose that can happen after crashing at high speed wearing sunglasses with your half shell lid? It's nasty.

I used clipless when I raced downhill; hands down they're faster. Now that I only do the odd grassroots race, I use flats. Too me flats are more fun and there's something exhilarating about getting rowdy on flats. I also dirt jump, and I like that I don't have to get used to different pedals each time I transition from riding trails or dirt jumps.

I haven't oozed and glossed over an article like this since an old issue of Bike magazine from the late 90's.

Ha! I'm stoked someone else asked about this. I've always called them "slap turns" and I can never get much answers from my friends. I wonder if they help you go into certain corners with a lot more speed, because as the wheel tries to straighten itself out it slams into the corner putting a lot more pressure on the bike allowing you to have increased traction. Just a guess. They look rad!

I want to learn how to do it, and haven't been able to find someone to either teach me nor could I find any how to videos.

Sorry I'm not answering your question but I wanted to say that your video was awesome for showcasing the trail… it would be perfect on Trailforks as its the kind of video I'd be looking for when I want to see what a trail entails before riding it.

A dozen well worded letters from tax payers and voters would push the ball in the right direction.

I'm going to write them tonight. Its really unfortunate how difficult it is to get anything moving in this area. A variety of people, especially families, enjoyed utilizing Interriver before it got flattened.

As per the original poster, I suck at climbing but still usually enjoy it as long as its up single track or many short and punchy climbs put together. I don't enjoy the fire roads or Old Buck so much, therefore all the new climbing trails that are being built are awesome in my opinion.

I'd love to see a climbing trail built from Baden Powell close to the ending of GSM that gets you higher so that you can basically ride from the top of Corksrew.

As someone said earlier.. some things that are super important before your dog becomes a trail dog, is a solid recall and some basic commands. I did a lot of "clicker" training with my dog (which you can look up on internet or take an obedience class). I spent all last summer, using my bike more like a run bike, with clicker in one hand and treats in my pocket. Every time my dog was just behind me and to the left, I clicked and treated. It paid off, as she now doesn't go in front of my wheel. I taught my dog a good recall with my voice saying "Come!" and I also taught her the touch command to my hand, so I only have to put my hand down and she'll come back to me to tag it. I also taught her "wait" and "back". I would train both off leash as well as on leash riding (sometimes its just safer to have your dog on lease, ie: near busy road). Start off with short and slow rides, and build up your dogs endurance and most importantly, make sure your dog is hydrated and having a good time. Good luck! A furry biking friend is the best!

I have been reading this thread over the past few days and have to admit that initially I felt a bit deflated. It is unfortunate that The Province has presented this new program in the way that it did and it is obvious that they did it with intention of drawing attention. Everyone here has made some very valid points from both sides of the argument. I can see how the cover can convey the wrong message to the community yet on the other hand, I also see the positive impact that a program of dedicated riders who report on trail conditions in such a way that lead trail builders can be made aware of it quickly, can have.

I first heard of the The Watchmen late last summer when I was personally invited, as a result of already being an active communicator of trail conditions, to become a part of it when the program was to launch. I was very excited by the idea of it and felt that this was a great system to ensure that trails are kept in the best of shape, and potential problems that could have severe environmental impacts would be reported to the right people. I felt pride for being invited to be a part of the community who would diligently report the trail conditions to the community and the lead trailbuilders.

Gord made a valid point about 1st impressions being the strongest. Although I thought this program would be received with great praise, it is obvious that, unfortunately with the timing of recent events and the launch of the program that there is a majority of people who question its intent, and the perception the community will have towards the it.

I would support a relaunch of the program and do like the name Trailkeepers as suggested earlier. However, if a relaunch doesn't happen, I will still support the current program. Hopefully through positive attitude, exchange of harmonious words and education… we will show the community that this is positive for everyone and will ensure that the trails are for all and are forever because we're working hard as a united community to keep it that way.

Hey fellow shore riders, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good chiropractor in North Vancouver? I would prefer that they also do Active Release Therapy, but its not necessary.

I was dirt jumping and had to toss the bike away, which had me land on my one heal pretty hard. Now I have some kind of compression injury in my lower back and its uber inflammed and painful.
