Rapha

Anyone have any Rapha pieces? Im looking to possibly add some items

Hows the fit?
Quality piece of kit or over-priced hype?
Shipping to Canada?
Ease of returns?

Or can I find this stuff locally-ish?

I ordered the Rapha bib shorts online from the Rapha website. I was fortunate that the size I ordered fit, and could skip the return process. I seem to recall that it came with a prepackaged return form.

Shipping to Canada wasn't an issue.

Quality piece of kit ?

Some of the best shorts I've ever had. The chamois is super comfortable, and doesn't cut my ass when it get's wet like my last pair of Sugoi's would. The leg's fit tight, never ride up, It's almost easier to strip down to take a piss then try and lift the leg up. Which can be a wee bit awkward if you decide to wear them under your baggies.

Anyone seen a LBS carrying Shimano Shoes XC-70,XC-61?

Does anyone know of a LBS in Van/N. Van that carries clipless XC Shimano shoes. Looking specifically for the XC-70 or XC-61.

Thanks!

One thing of concern: there's a huge tree that looks like it was blown over, but got caught up in a bunch of other trees and didn't come all the way down. It's precariously suspended above the first climbing only section on Bridle on the way back from Hyannis. Not sure who to alert for that.

As of this morning, said tree has now fallen down on to the trail

VPD ticketing bike racks for obscuring rear plate.

What do you do with the plate when you have bikes on the rack?

Also, do you have a light on the plate when it is mounted on the rack?

The plate is held on with two bolts, I unscrew it and remount it from the bottom when the rack is down. (Bit of a pain). I have a light for it, but haven't installed it yet.

I got tagged on January 4th for a $280.00 ticket. The officer said if I were to do something about the blocked plate, then dispute the ticket, then I could probably get out of it.

This is what it looks like now, hopefully satisfies the judge.

An excavator has made it's way up the powerline Hike-A-Bike from the bottom up to Forever After, has mowed down a big swath through the blackberry bushes, and flattened the trail. It's more rideable then it has been recently. Instead of just loose rock, it's all branchy a bit muddy and mixed with rock.

Still a giant grunt, and I think it would almost have to be paved for this guy to ride his bike up.

On Severed, or on the Baden Powell, which is the flat, techy section that crosses a swamp with narrow log ride bridges after you finish the climb?

On Severed, half way across the swamp.

Tree has fallen onto the second bridge at the top of Severd. Bridge is still intact, feels like it might be a bit loose from the hit.

Big shout out to all the gold work that has been done at the top of Severed. Sure rides nice now, no more swamp!

School me on racks

Really like my 1up Rack. (http://www.1upusa.com/product-quikracksilverdouble.html)

Road, mountain, kids bikes, no problems. The mounting system for the receiver makes for a very tight fit, so your rack isn't wobbling all over the place either.
Soooooo, maybe a good weekend to ride Cat Lake, the new Plum Smugglers, IMBA Smart, Half Nelson, and anything else not covered in the race.
Does the new Plum Smugglers start near the same place as the old one ? I was out there on Saturday, after exiting Lower Power Smart there was just a 'Plum Smugglers' sign stuck in a stump on the edge of a new log clearing.

Kelowna high rim trail

Anyone ride it? I'll be camping with the family at Ellison and looking for at least one big day ride (+5 hour range) any other suggestions?

I just did this same trip with the family a couple weeks ago. The riding at Kal Lake is a lot more interesting then what could be found at Ellision. The beware of "Rattlesnakes" in the area is an amusing difference compared to the usual "Cougars" and "Bears" in area signs.

I did 2 rides at Kal Lake. The first ride I hit most of the lower trails and had no problem finding trails that well exceeded my capabilities. (Fraidy Cat, 36DD). The second day, I ventured way up high rim trail trying to seek out the entrance to Big Ed. I ended up way back in the sticks on a bunch of logging roads, and in the end gave up. Looking on google maps, it looks possible to do if you make the right turns. There are no signs after you leave the park, and finding High Rim Trail after it crosses a couple logging road can be a challenge.

All that being said, 5 hours at Kal lake, and you will have time to hit almost all the trails, and some tired legs. :)

Tree down on Baden Powell along the climb up to Severed,Neds. About 10 meters from the intersection with Old Buck, and about 2 meters from the armored climb section. Will need a saw to remove, too heavy to push.

cleaning UP your fav trails/sections

seeing as there seems to be a desire to talk about cleaning tech up let's have a thread for that shall we laddies?

to get us started how about cleaning up lower snake and uppercut on sfu?

I was out attempting this yesterday there are a few areas that baffle me right now on lower snake: (Useless descriptions that probably mean nothing to anybody but me)
the entrance
that set of steps around a corner, that now has a braid going right over the top
* some super steep short ladder that was very slick.

Had to take 2 runs at the big a-frame on gear jammer, heart was in my throat by the time I was at the bottom of it the first time.

Cleaning your favourite trails

Another great but fairly short climb section is from the bottom of c-buster back up to the top of the ridge (above Salamander). I am always hurting by the top if I have made it all the way.

Is this basically climbing up from Bridle up to that intersection area where Shorn, C-buster, and Applicator meet ? Can you actually ride that up ?
